ABOUT THE JOB

The Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASH) Assistant at Ekklesiyar An’UWA a Nigeria (EYE) serves as a field-based professional dedicated to expanding access to essential sexual and reproductive information and services for women and girls in Northeast Nigeria, specifically within Polka, Gaza Local Government Area of Born State. This position encompasses efforts to improve service accessibility, fortify referral networks for adolescent care, and develop the competencies of partners and staff in matters related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and ASH, ultimately advancing youth health outcomes.

LOCATION: PULKA

Key duties involve overseeing project execution from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. This includes coordinating cross-functional teams, monitoring progress through regular updates, and resolving any operational challenges that may arise. You will be responsible for conducting thorough risk assessments, implementing mitigation strategies, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders to align expectations. Additionally, you will drive process improvements, analyze performance metrics, and recommend data-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.

The ASH ASSISTANT will perform the following duties, which encompass all related tasks not explicitly mentioned but logically associated with the role.

Facilitate both group-based educational workshops and one-on-one counselling sessions focused on sexual and reproductive health services.

Facilitate in-depth sexuality education sessions alongside parent group sessions specifically tailored for adolescents and their caregivers.

Deliver training sessions for Community Health volunteers, focusing on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health services, to provide comprehensive guidance.

Conduct safe motherhood sessions specifically tailored for pregnant adolescents, ensuring their unique medical and emotional needs are addressed throughout the pregnancy journey.

Review and customize all pertinent ASH IEC materials to align with program facilities, and oversee the reprinting of essential ASH publications for effective distribution.

Engage actively in the planning and implementation of community sensitization initiatives focused on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASH) services.

Organize campaigns related to ASRH

To facilitate a community dialogue meeting, engage religious and community leaders to introduce adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASH) services and youth-friendly corners, while securing their endorsement and support.

During health coordination meetings, you will deliver project updates and present relevant program data to stakeholders.

Compile weekly and monthly reports detailing operational activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all submissions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED INCLUDE a high school diploma or equivalent, professional certifications or licenses as mandated by state or regulatory bodies, and a minimum of three years of direct experience in a related field. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Candidates must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. A proven track record of meeting deadlines and adhering to established protocols is also required.

A Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant scientific discipline or the field of Public Health is required.

In emergencies, you will have implemented ASH programs with a minimum of two years of hands-on experience.
