YES Tech Limited, a burgeoning Nigerian ed-tech enterprise, is developing a premium, curriculum-compliant video learning platform tailored for secondary school students spanning JSS1 to SS3. Our content is meticulously structured to align with the WAEC, NECK, BEE, and NERD frameworks, ensuring Nigerian learners gain access to an affordable, dynamic educational resource that empowers them to excel in exams and deepen their subject mastery, regardless of location.

We are currently at a pivotal moment: assembling our inaugural cohort of educators, content reviewers, and academic leaders to propel the platform toward its launch. Seeking an accomplished arts and humanities educator to spearhead quality assurance and uphold academic integrity for our humanities content from the outset.

The Role

As the Head of Department, Arts & Humanities, you will provide academic leadership for all non-science material created by YES, overseeing the process from initial script approval to the final review and publication of videos.

Subjects that will fall under your purview encompass a diverse range of topics, including those in which you will provide guidance, expertise, and leadership. You will be accountable for overseeing various academic disciplines, ensuring they meet established standards and objectives. Among these subjects are core areas such as mathematics, science, and language arts, as well as specialized fields like history, technology, and the arts, depending on the curriculum and institutional requirements. Your role will involve monitoring progress, evaluating performance, and implementing strategies to enhance learning outcomes across all assigned areas.

Proficient command of the English language, both written and spoken, is essential, along with a deep understanding of English literature.

Government, History, and Civic Education encompass the study of political systems, historical events, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens within a society. This field provides a comprehensive understanding of how governments function, the evolution of societies over time, and the principles that underpin democratic participation. Professionals in this area analyze policymaking processes, interpret historical documents, and explore the significance of civic engagement in fostering a just and equitable world.

Economics and Commerce encompass the analysis of production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, as well as the management of financial transactions and business operations. This field examines market behaviors, economic policies, and the interplay between supply and demand to inform decision-making in both public and private sectors. Professionals in this domain assess trade patterns, fiscal strategies, and regulatory frameworks to optimize economic efficiency and growth. Key responsibilities include conducting research, interpreting data, advising stakeholders, and developing solutions to address challenges such as inflation, unemployment, and resource allocation. Proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and financial reporting is essential, along with strong critical thinking and communication skills to convey complex concepts effectively.

Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) encompass the academic examination of Christianity and Islam, respectively, covering their histories, teachings, doctrines, and cultural impacts. Both subjects are designed to foster interfaith understanding, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning among students. Educators in these fields are expected to possess a deep knowledge of their respective religions, proficiency in comparative religious analysis, and the ability to facilitate inclusive and engaging classroom discussions. Responsibilities include curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment design, ensuring alignment with educational standards and student learning objectives.

You should demonstrate proficiency in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and other relevant indigenous languages when applicable.

Geography, with a focus on humanities disciplines, encompasses the study of spatial patterns, cultural landscapes, and societal relationships with the environment. This field explores how human activities shape and are shaped by place, emphasizing qualitative and interpretive methods alongside quantitative analysis. Professionals in this area may investigate urbanization, migration, cultural identity, and environmental justice, often employing critical theories and interdisciplinary approaches. Key skills include spatial analysis, qualitative research, and a deep understanding of sociocultural dynamics.
