You will contribute significantly to the organization by fulfilling key responsibilities and driving impactful results. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaborative skills to achieve both individual and team objectives. Your duties will include analyzing data, developing solutions, and implementing processes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, you will work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and deliver measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate must possess strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of success in similar positions.

We seek a detail-oriented, highly disciplined Background Checks Officer to uphold the highest standards of integrity for Estrada and our corporate partners. This position demands more than routine verification—it requires the expertise of an investigative professional dedicated to minimizing organizational risk and eradicating fraudulent activity.

You will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational implementation of our verification engine, ensuring meticulous execution at every stage. Your duties will include cross-referencing educational credentials and prior employment histories, as well as conducting thorough audits of criminal records and professional certifications. By fulfilling these responsibilities, you will guarantee that each vetting file meets the highest standards of accuracy and completeness.

As a meticulous process-integrity specialist, you recognize that even the slightest oversight can jeopardize a client’s security. If you possess an unwavering commitment to detail, demonstrate relentless perseverance, and excel at transforming initial audits into dependable verification reports—even under stringent time constraints—you’re the ideal candidate for this role.

What You’ll Do

Core Verification Operations & Execution involves overseeing and implementing verification processes to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols. This role demands meticulous attention to detail to validate accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all operational activities. The incumbent will be responsible for executing verification procedures, documenting findings, and escalating discrepancies as needed. Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach are essential to maintain the integrity of verification protocols and support overall organizational objectives.

Oversee the comprehensive end-to-end vetting process, encompassing verification of educational qualifications, assessment of prior employment references, confirmation of addresses, and evaluation of credit histories.

Meticulously examine and validate all credentials submitted by candidates—including certificates, transcripts, and identity documents—to detect irregularities, missing information, or indications of fraudulence.

Field Verification Coordination: Manage and facilitate the activities of field verification officers or external agents conducting physical address inspections, prioritizing rapid processing and ensuring the integrity of the data collected.

Stakeholder Engagement & Network Management: We are seeking a skilled professional to cultivate and sustain robust relationships with key stakeholders and networks. The role involves identifying critical stakeholders, analyzing their needs, and developing tailored engagement strategies to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Responsibilities include managing communications, fostering collaborations, and addressing stakeholder concerns to enhance mutual value. Additionally, the position requires maintaining an extensive network of contacts, facilitating knowledge sharing, and representing the organization at industry events. A proven track record in stakeholder management and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics are essential for success in this role.

As an Institutional Liaison, your role will involve cultivating and sustaining strong, professional connections with registries, corporate HR departments, law enforcement agencies, and academic institutions both within Nigeria and internationally, with the primary objective of expediting response times.

Ensure all communications with candidates remain professional and centered on their experience, particularly when requesting supplementary verification documents or clarifying inconsistencies in their submitted materials.

Overseeing reporting protocols, ensuring adherence to quality control standards, and maintaining rigorous compliance with regulatory requirements are critical responsibilities of this role. You will be responsible for verifying the accuracy and integrity of data, implementing robust quality assurance measures, and ensuring all processes align with established compliance frameworks. Additionally, you will prepare and submit detailed reports that meet organizational and regulatory expectations, while proactively identifying and addressing any deviations to uphold operational excellence.

Champion the creation of polished, evidence-based Verification Reports, meticulously documenting all findings, discrepancies, and potential red flags with uncompromising clarity, accuracy, and supporting rationale for client evaluation.

Actively monitor and track the turnaround time (TAT) for all ongoing verification mandates, ensuring efficient processing by promptly identifying and addressing institutional bottlenecks to consistently meet client service-level agreements (SLAs).

Ensure strict adherence to KISS standard operating procedures, data privacy regulations including the NDPR, and all applicable legal compliance frameworks throughout the entire vetting process.

What We’re Looking For

Professional and Technical Competencies: Demonstrates a robust foundation in technical expertise alongside a comprehensive understanding of industry-specific standards and best practices. Exhibits strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to apply specialized knowledge to complex problem-solving scenarios. Maintains up-to-date proficiency in relevant tools, technologies, and methodologies to ensure optimal performance in dynamic professional environments.

A Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Criminology, Sociology, Law, Business Administration, or a closely related Social Science field is required.

A minimum of two years of practical, direct experience is required in corporate background checks, pre-employment screening, compliance, HR operations, or risk-mitigation consulting.

Proficient in data management tools, verification databases, and the advanced functionalities of the Microsoft Office suite—particularly Excel and Word—to facilitate efficient report generation.

Investigation & Research DNA: Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in digital research, coupled with an innate ability to uncover unverified data or establish connections with elusive institutional contacts.

Demonstrates exceptional leadership capabilities and fosters strong interpersonal relationships. Excels in guiding teams, resolving conflicts, and promoting collaboration across departments. Exhibits strong communication skills, ensuring clarity and alignment in team objectives. Builds trust and rapport with stakeholders at all levels, facilitating effective decision-making and problem-solving.

You demonstrate an unwavering dedication to precision, where even minor discrepancies—such as an incorrect date or a typographical error in an identity file—are unacceptable to you.

Maintaining unwavering professional integrity requires exercising the utmost discretion and upholding rigorous ethical standards when managing highly sensitive and confidential personal information.

You demonstrate unwavering persistence and resilience by treating a delayed institutional response as an opportunity to explore alternative avenues. Your disciplined follow-up approach ensures that you consistently pursue answers until they are obtained.

Exceptional organizational skills are required to efficiently manage and prioritize a large volume of verification requests while consistently maintaining high-quality standards.
