As a cook in a boarding school, your primary responsibility will involve crafting wholesome, large-volume meals for students and staff while ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and dietary regulations. This position encompasses menu development, bulk ingredient preparation, inventory oversight, and maintaining impeccable kitchen cleanliness, with the potential for early morning, evening, or weekend work shifts.
Oversee a range of critical duties and fulfill key responsibilities to ensure operational excellence and strategic alignment. This role involves managing core functions with precision, executing assigned tasks efficiently, and driving performance through meticulous planning and execution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals, maintain high standards of accountability, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Possess expertise in relevant areas to deliver measurable results while upholding compliance with established policies and procedures.
Prepare nutritious, visually appealing, and well-balanced meals tailored for large gatherings of students and faculty.
Dietary Accommodations: Develop and customize recipes while preparing suitable alternatives to meet the needs of students with allergies, religious dietary practices, or medical conditions.
Ensure unwavering compliance with health and safety regulations by meticulously managing food storage protocols, monitoring temperature controls, and conducting thorough cleaning of all kitchen areas, dining facilities, and equipment.
Assist in the oversight of inventory and stock management by supporting the reception of food deliveries, tracking stock levels, and implementing strategies to minimize food waste.
Work collaboratively with the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to synchronize meal preparation schedules with the school’s daily bell schedule.
