As a hybrid professional, the selected individual will work on-site for 3–4 days each week. Reporting to our Academy in Granada, Lagos State, the candidate will fulfill the role’s responsibilities.
Instruct courses covering pattern drafting, garment construction, sewing techniques, fabric knowledge, and fundamental aspects of the fashion business.
Evaluate and enhance the academy’s curriculum to guarantee student achievement of learning objectives and alignment with industry standards.
Supervise practical sessions, workshops, and student projects with a hands-on approach while evaluating fittings, providing constructive feedback on corrections, and ensuring high-quality finishing standards.
Conduct evaluations of student performance, provide personalized mentorship, and assist students in developing portfolios tailored for industry placement opportunities.
Maintain classroom order, monitor student attendance, and ensure the safe and proper use of studio tools and machinery.
Design assessments, including assignments, tests, and culminating projects, to evaluate student progress. Provide fair and unbiased evaluation of student submissions by assigning grades objectively.
To maintain the relevance of the course content for both Nigeria and diaspora markets, continuously monitor evolving fashion trends, techniques, and tools.
JOB REQUIREMENT
A formal qualification in Fashion Design, Clothing & Textile, or an equivalent credential is required.
Seeking candidates with a minimum of two to three years of practical experience in fashion design.
Proficiency in operating both manual and industrial sewing machines, along with expertise in pattern making, grading, and couture finishing, is essential.
Familiarity with fashion illustration design tools and fabric painting techniques is considered a valuable asset.
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate outstanding communication skills, a nurturing approach towards novice learners, a flair for innovation, and the capacity to inspire and energize students.
You are expected to present a portfolio showcasing garments or collections you have designed and created.
