As a boarding school cook, you will be responsible for preparing wholesome, bulk meals for both students and staff, ensuring strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and dietary standards. Duties include developing menus, managing large-scale ingredient preparation, overseeing inventory control, and maintaining an immaculate kitchen environment. This position may require frequent shifts during early mornings, evenings, or weekends to accommodate operational demands.
Oversee a comprehensive range of critical responsibilities to ensure operational excellence and team success. Lead and manage a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture through clear communication, mentorship, and strategic direction. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and initiatives that enhance efficiency, productivity, and compliance with organizational standards. Food Preparation: Develop and prepare nutritious, visually appealing meals in large quantities to meet the dietary needs of students and faculty.
Dietary Accommodations: Develop or adjust recipes and produce alternative meal options to meet the needs of students with allergies, religious dietary restrictions, or medical conditions.
Ensure unwavering compliance with all health and safety regulations, emphasizing meticulous food storage practices, precise temperature monitoring, and thorough sanitation of the kitchen, dining hall, and all kitchen equipment.
Inventory and Stock Management: Responsibilities include processing incoming food deliveries, tracking inventory levels to maintain optimal stock, and implementing strategies to minimize food waste.
Collaboration is essential as you will partner with the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to synchronize meal preparation schedules with the school’s daily bell schedule.
