Job Summary

The Risk Analyst will support the Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Control in fulfilling strategic and operational risk management duties across Total Health Trust, with potential collaboration with other entities within the Tangerine organization as needed.

Overseeing a range of critical tasks, the role involves managing and executing key operational duties with precision. Responsibilities include maintaining effective communication channels with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and delivering consistent results aligned with organizational objectives. Additionally, the position requires monitoring performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to achieve seamless workflow and project completion. The role also demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering a productive and inclusive work environment.

Activities – Governance: Overseeing strategic decision-making processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory compliance, and managing board relations, policy development, and risk assessment frameworks to maintain ethical standards and operational integrity.

Collaborate closely with the Head of ERM & Control to design, implement, and oversee the Risk Management Framework and its associated policies, ensuring continuous monitoring and comprehensive reporting throughout the process.

Monitor emerging issues and evolving organizational risks by facilitating daily processes designed to notify management promptly.

Assist the Head of ERM & Control in formulating and executing risk-related policies to ensure robust governance and compliance frameworks.

Enhance existing risk management frameworks by strengthening the processes for identifying, evaluating (both qualitatively and quantitatively), mitigating, and continuously monitoring risks across all associated policies.

Action Plan Oversight: You will track the progress of action plans to promptly identify any delays or instances where mitigation efforts by business units remain incomplete.

Facilitates a range of supplementary tasks and engagements designed to enhance team collaboration, professional development, and organizational efficiency. These activities may include cross-functional meetings, mentorship programs, or participation in industry-related events to foster networking and knowledge sharing. Additionally, supports special projects or initiatives aimed at improving operational workflows or driving innovation within the department.

Support the Head of ERM & Control in establishing the Risk Appetite Framework by defining tolerance levels, escalation limits, and monitoring alignment between liquidity risk and the investment portfolio.

Loss Reporting and Monitoring: Oversee the submission of loss reports by Champions and correspondents while tracking and ensuring the completion of remediation measures.

Support process owners in developing, reviewing, and implementing the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) process; ensure uniformity and endorsement of BIA questionnaires; and compile a comprehensive BIA report for validation by the Business Continuity Management (BCM) Sponsor and the Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Control.

Operational Resilience: Assist the Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Control in aligning Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) with approved strategies, conducting BCPs and the Crisis Communication Plan testing in accordance with the Operational Resilience Policy.

Facilitate crisis management strategies, guaranteeing preparedness and prompt action in the event of disruptions.

Develop and oversee a Key Risk Indicators (KAI) dashboard to facilitate the identification of potential risks and enable timely intervention through early warning mechanisms.

Model Development and Review: Provide assistance to the Head of ERM & Control in the creation, refinement, and assessment of models.

Perform detailed risk evaluations across all business units to proactively detect emerging threats and vulnerabilities.

Ensure that risks are appropriately categorized and prioritized in alignment with the organization’s defined risk appetite and strategic business objectives.

Provide training programs designed to heighten risk awareness and foster a culture of risk mindfulness throughout the organization.

Educate key stakeholders and champions about essential risk management processes and tools, ensuring clear understanding and effective utilization to mitigate potential threats and enhance organizational resilience.

Perform thorough risk evaluations across various business units to detect developing risks.

Responsible for supervising the incident management framework, guaranteeing that incidents are documented, analyzed, and resolved in a timely manner.

Perform in-depth root cause analyses to identify underlying factors contributing to significant incidents, subsequently proposing and implementing effective preventive measures.

Work collaboratively with business units to implement and oversee risk mitigation strategies, ensuring proactive management of potential threats.

Assist the Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Control in fostering innovation within risk management through the strategic application of technology and data analytics.

Assist the Head of ERM & Control in evaluating the organization’s risk management practices through comparison with industry benchmarks and established best practices.

Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, promptly escalating any identified concerns to the appropriate stakeholders.

Assist the Head of ERM & Control in organizing and executing stress tests and scenario analyses to assess the resilience of the organization during challenging circumstances.

Assist the Head of ERM & Control in spearheading various control-related initiatives and projects.

Activities encompass monitoring and reporting processes, ensuring the systematic collection, analysis, and dissemination of data to stakeholders for informed decision-making and compliance with organizational standards.

Monthly, provide progress reports on action plans assigned by the first line to the Head of ERM & Control.

Conduct comprehensive annual Business Impact Analyses (BIA) across all teams, consolidating findings into a cohesive report.

Prepare quarterly risk reports with thorough consolidation of risk data and analysis.

Quarterly oversight of risk appetite involves continuous monitoring and detailed reporting ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and risk tolerance thresholds.

Liquidity and Investment Oversight: Lead quarterly evaluations of liquidity positions and investment portfolios. Additional Responsibilities: Undertake supplementary tasks and assignments within the ERM & Control team as directed by the Head of ERM & Control.

Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. At least three years of professional experience in software development is essential, with a focus on web technologies. Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java is necessary. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also required. Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and experience with frameworks like React or Angular are preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are expected to convey technical concepts effectively.

Knowledge of the financial service sector/HMO business would be an added advantage.

Possesses a solid understanding of insurance and HMO product offerings, including their development processes, interdependencies, and key features.

Professional certifications in Risk, Financial Modelling, or Data Analytics will be highly favorable.

Possession of a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYC) discharge certificate is a prerequisite for this role.
