The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the physical unloading of cargo, ensuring it is completed swiftly, safely, and with precise documentation.

Prior to and throughout cargo operations, conduct thorough inspections to verify the operational readiness and efficiency of shipboard equipment, including working gears, hatches, cranes, and discharge mechanisms.
Upon the vessel’s arrival, supervise and facilitate the timely mobilization of stevedoring crews and dockworkers to initiate cargo discharge operations without delay.
Oversee and optimize daily cargo unloading rates at the berth or jetty, ensuring precise, real-time operational feedback is relayed to the Head of Shipping for informed decision-making.
Collaborate effectively with terminal operations teams at both GDNL and Leak facilities while fostering strong working relationships with internal Strategic Business Unit (SBS) logistics departments to enhance the efficiency of cargo evacuation processes.
Prepare comprehensive and meticulously verified daily Vessel Situation Reports (Streps), summarizing key operational metrics such as shift performance, tonnage throughput, and critical milestones achieved.
Immediately initiating formal Letters of Protest (LOP) on the company’s behalf in response to operational challenges—such as equipment malfunctions, terminal delays, or weather-related disruptions—ensures proactive protection against unjustified demurrage claims.
Enforce adherence to corporate policies, standard shipping procedures, and maritime regulations to ensure all onboard activities are conducted safely and in full compliance.

A minimum qualification of an HND in Maritime Transport & Business Studies, Shipping/Ports Operations & Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required.
