This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the prompt, secure, and precise physical discharge of cargo, ensuring all activities are documented accurately.

Before and during cargo operations, conduct thorough inspections to verify the operational readiness and efficiency of shipboard equipment, including working gears, hatches, cranes, and discharge mechanisms.
Ensure the prompt mobilization of stevedoring crews and dockworkers to facilitate the immediate initiation of cargo discharge procedures once a vessel has docked.
Monitor daily cargo discharge speeds at the berth or jetty and ensure they meet operational targets, while delivering precise, real-time updates to the Head of Shipping for informed decision-making.
Work in close collaboration with terminal operations teams at both GDNL and Leak facilities while fostering strong, productive relationships with internal Strategic Business Unit (SBS) logistics departments to enhance the efficiency of cargo evacuation processes.
Accurate daily Vessel Situation Reports (Streps) must be meticulously compiled, verified, and distributed, capturing shift performance metrics, tonnage throughput, and key operational milestones.
Immediately issuing formal Letters of Protest (LOP) on behalf of the company to address operational challenges—such as ship gear failures, terminal delays, or weather-related disruptions—ensuring protection against unjustified demurrage claims.
You are responsible for upholding corporate policies, adhering to standard shipping procedures, and ensuring all onboard operations are conducted safely and in full compliance with maritime regulations.

Demonstrates a strong ability to identify operational inefficiencies, effectively resolve contentious labor disputes involving dockworkers, and file technical protests with composure in high-pressure situations.
Strong digital literacy is essential, with demonstrated expertise in leveraging the Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint—to produce well-organized and coherent vessel situation reports and logs.

A professional qualification is sought for this role, requiring a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business administration, or finance. Candidates must possess at least three years of related work experience, with a strong preference for those holding industry-recognized certifications.
