Job Summary
The Managing Director will spearhead the cooperative’s strategic direction, fostering membership expansion while overseeing credit and loan portfolios, guiding staff performance, reinforcing financial safeguards, and upholding both profitability and long-term viability.
Oversee a comprehensive array of critical tasks, including the management of day-to-day operations, the development and execution of strategic initiatives, and the maintenance of compliance with established policies and regulations. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align objectives, allocate resources efficiently, and drive measurable outcomes. Monitor performance metrics to identify trends, address inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions as needed. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, timely updates, and resolution of issues to foster productive relationships. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to enhance skills, productivity, and engagement. Contribute to long-term planning by assessing market conditions, forecasting needs, and proposing data-driven recommendations to senior leadership. Oversee the daily functions of the cooperative and provide updates to the Board and Executive Committee.

Responsibilities include managing loan marketing initiatives, overseeing appraisal processes, coordinating disbursements, monitoring loan performance, and ensuring timely recovery.
Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting procedures, cash management activities, and internal control systems.
Oversee staff performance, foster teamwork, uphold discipline, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
Ensure thorough documentation, adherence to compliance standards, effective risk management, and preparedness for audits.
Establish and nurture meaningful connections with members, local groups, enterprises, and institutions across Cuba and its neighboring regions.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in software development or a comparable technical role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, alongside familiarity with frameworks like Django or Spring Boot. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also necessary. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, as well as DevOps practices, is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication abilities and a commitment to continuous learning.
A bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or other commercially or socially relevant fields is required.
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required, including at least five years in a managerial role within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.
Seasoned professional with extensive expertise in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loan management, and team leadership.
Required skill set encompasses robust proficiency in project management methodologies, exceptional analytical capabilities, and strong interpersonal communication abilities, along with a thorough understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards. Candidates must possess at least five years of relevant experience in a similar role, demonstrate expertise in data analysis and reporting, and exhibit a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Familiarity with enterprise software systems, such as ERP or CRM platforms, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams are also essential. Additionally, applicants should hold a degree in a related field and maintain current certifications pertinent to the position.
