Scope
The LGA Technical Assistant is responsible for overseeing the effective execution of SMC services at the community level by HFW supervisors and CDDs, ensuring timely procurement and distribution of SMC commodities and supplies. In addition, the position involves delivering supportive supervision, conducting hands-on capacity-building initiatives, and meticulously documenting all program activities to maintain high standards of implementation.
They deliver guidance and training to the specified stakeholders, ensuring compliance with SMC administration protocols.
The incumbent collaborates with the State Ministry of Health and the Local Government Area (LGA) management team, providing regular progress updates while ensuring the high-quality execution of the Seasonal Malaria Chemo prevention (SMC) program in high-burden Gas.
The successful candidate will assist with various academic responsibilities, including but not limited to facilitating discussion sections, conducting review sessions, and providing individualized support to students. The position will facilitate the execution of all Supply Chain Management (SCM) initiatives at the Local Government Area (LGA) health level, ensuring the prompt rollout of the work plan, coordination of planning meetings, distribution of commodities, and ongoing monitoring to prevent stock shortages. Additionally, responsibilities include overseeing community mobilization efforts, conducting supervisory visits, tracking progress, and compiling comprehensive reports.
Collaborate closely with the LGA Field Officer or Cluster Supervisor to uphold accountability for received commodities and supplies by monitoring consumption levels and evaluating reconciliation reports.
Support the capacity development of field partners—including Supervisors, Health Facility Workers (HFWs), Community Drug Distributors/Community Health Workers (CDDs/CHWs), Lead Mothers (LMs), and community mobilizers—by providing hands-on training and structured, high-quality supervision.
Monitor program objectives and execute scheduled initiatives promptly to guarantee alignment with established targets, and validate reports from Local Government Authorities (Gas) and Health Facility Workers (HFW) for accuracy and thoroughness before final submission.
Ensure that all activities are implemented in strict adherence to established protocols through ongoing monitoring and by providing supervision and hands-on training to Local Government Authorities (LGA), Health Facility Workers (HFW), and Community Health Workers (CHWs).
Collaborate effectively with Public Health Officers and other stakeholders, fostering strong partnerships to conduct home visits, organize meetings, and uphold the LGA’s commitment to shared objectives.
You are responsible for overseeing report accuracy and ensuring data integrity through systematic validation and verification processes. This includes monitoring data collection methods, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to maintain high standards of reliability and compliance with established protocols. Ensure timely submission of all relevant documentation, including End of Contract Reports, success stories, and trip reports, to both the Program Officer and the Senior Program Manager.

Build and sustain collaborative relationships with health and nutrition services, prioritizing referral cases, and coordinate closely with State/LGA NAFDAC focal persons.
Perform a range of administrative tasks and other responsibilities, ensuring efficient office operations and support for team productivity.
Develop individual and team action plans that ensure role complementarities to meet the established treatment targets effectively.
Assist in monitoring and tracking the usage of supplies to ensure efficient allocation and replenishment as needed.
Professionally managing stock levels to ensure they adequately support SMC site operations.
Conduct a comprehensive physical inventory of all SMC commodities delivered to health facilities at the end of every cycle.
The position may include additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the line manager.
Responsibilities include producing and submitting specified deliverables in accordance with established timelines and quality standards. Ensures all required documentation, reports, and materials are completed accurately and thoroughly reviewed prior to submission. Thorough End of Cycle Reports must be finalized and submitted within two business days following implementation.
Manage the reverse logistics process for both used and unused SPAN following each cycle.
Monitor personnel payment statuses to ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
You are expected to participate in all meetings at the LGA level, including planning meetings, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) gatherings, and Disaster Vulnerability Management (DVM) sessions.
Facilitate the seamless distribution of SPAN from the LGA transit point to healthcare facilities (HF).
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Seeking a candidate with a Clinical Officer, Nurse, Social Science, Science, or any other Public Health-related qualification, alongside a minimum of five years of hands-on field experience in SMC implementation.
