Job Summary
A dynamic and meticulous Legal Officer is required to oversee the company’s legal operations, uphold regulatory adherence, and enhance debt recovery strategies.
The successful applicant will be instrumental in protecting the company’s legal interests while simultaneously facilitating business operations and revenue preservation.
Oversee and execute a broad range of duties encompassing project management, team leadership, and strategic planning to drive organizational objectives. Perform thorough research to identify emerging industry trends and apply insights to enhance operational efficiency. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to elevate team capabilities and promote professional growth. Manage client relationships by delivering tailored solutions and maintaining consistent communication. Ensure adherence to compliance standards and regulatory requirements while mitigating risks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts and achieve shared goals. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Deliver expert legal counsel on corporate governance, commercial transactions, and operational compliance matters.
Craft, evaluate, and finalize contracts, agreements, and service-level agreements (SLAs) in collaboration with clients and vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and compliance standards.
Ensure adherence to all relevant legal requirements, regulatory mandates, and established industry best practices.
Oversee litigation matters, resolve disputes, and coordinate with external counsel as necessary.
Monitor legal risks and provide strategic guidance to management on mitigation strategies.
Collaborate effectively with Finance and Operations teams to initiate and oversee legal actions aimed at debt recovery.
Assist in the formulation of internal policies and the establishment of governance frameworks.
Provide support for regulatory submissions, licenses, and mandatory statutory documentation.
Offer legal assistance to the Human Resources department in handling employment-related issues such as disciplinary proceedings and workplace disputes.
The position necessitates a minimum of three years of experience in a relevant field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively is required. Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are mandatory, and exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal, are expected. Familiarity with project management methodologies and a commitment to continuous learning are also prerequisites.
A Juries Doctor (LL.B) degree is required for this position.
Holders of the Nigerian Bar (BL) with active registration in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) are required.
Seeking candidates with three to five years of post-call experience, ideally within a corporate or security services setting.
Demonstrated expertise in debt recovery, credit control, and litigation processes is essential.
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of Nigerian commercial and labor legislation and its practical applications.
Proven expertise in preparing precise legal documents, engaging in strategic negotiations, and delivering clear, persuasive communication is essential.
