We invite applications for the position of Legal & Governance Lead, a role designed to deliver comprehensive legal, regulatory, and governance guidance to Angela’s diverse business entities. This position will be responsible for managing contracts, mitigating legal risks, coordinating regulatory interactions, and resolving disputes, while also contributing to high-impact strategic projects such as mergers and acquisitions, project development, and market expansion initiatives.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities essential to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Lead and coordinate key tasks, maintaining high levels of efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to established protocols. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement in performance metrics. Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and implement corrective measures as needed to achieve desired results. Uphold accountability for meeting deadlines, quality benchmarks, and compliance requirements while fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
Adheres to established standards and optimal methodologies for delivering legal services across designated transactions.
Deliver expert, thorough legal counsel while drafting and assessing legal opinions and agreements as requested by users on an ongoing basis.
Engage in strategic commercial discussions with Angela and its affiliated companies, preparing, evaluating, and summarizing critical terms within commercial contracts while securing the required internal endorsements.
Deliver expert legal counsel to Angela Entities regarding the legal consequences of proposed policies, decisions, and operational actions across a broad spectrum of practice areas, including, but not limited to, midstream gas operations, mergers and acquisitions, power sector initiatives, employment law, contract negotiations, litigation matters, lease agreements, regulatory compliance obligations, and intellectual property concerns.
Translate new laws and regulations into clear, actionable insights for Angela’s internal teams and management, offering strategic recommendations on required responses and ensuring alignment with evolving compliance obligations.
Provide expert-level dispute resolution management support to Angela’s affiliated entities, collaborating closely with the Legal Manager to oversee Angela’s litigation portfolio and other dispute resolution initiatives as needed.
Engage proactively with external legal representatives to secure consistent progress reports on active legal proceedings.
Offer extensive assistance with Corporate Secretarial and Compliance functions for corporate transactions and specialized initiatives, including acquisitions, board evaluations, and other strategic undertakings.
Deliver strategic guidance to enhance the corporate compliance framework by pinpointing and executing necessary enhancements to the compliance program structure.
Draft board papers, resolutions, and related documentation to facilitate informed decision-making by the Board and ensure the effective implementation of its directives.
Prepare legal correspondence, organize case files, and compile essential documentation in accordance with established protocols.
Maintains and regularly updates both electronic and paper-based databases managed by the legal department.
Collaborate closely with the Angela Finance team to facilitate timely processing and settlement of all legal invoices.
Handles additional duties as assigned by the General Counsel, the Company Secretary, or the Legal Manager, as required.
The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and demonstrate a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines is required, as is a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Familiarity with regulatory standards and best practices is also necessary to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
A recognized university should confer upon you a first degree in Law, minimum of a second-class grade.
A minimum of seven years of professional legal experience, obtained either through a distinguished law firm or within an in-house legal department, is required.
