This position is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Ebony State, Nigeria, for a Senior Mining Engineer. Responsibilities include leading and executing mine planning and development initiatives, managing mining operations, and upholding strict adherence to safety and environmental standards. The Senior Mining Engineer will perform detailed analyses, compile comprehensive reports, and work closely with interdisciplinary teams to enhance mining efficiency and resource extraction. Additional duties involve assessing mining technologies and project viability, as well as ensuring the effective management of coal and other mineral resources.
Oversee a range of critical duties, including the management of daily operations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and optimizing workflows to enhance productivity. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives, drive project execution, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, identify areas for enhancement, and implement strategic initiatives to achieve organizational goals. Formulate comprehensive mid-to-long range mining strategies encompassing pit designs, dump sequencing, dump configurations, and stockpile management, among other key operational elements.

Formulate and execute both immediate and long-term mine planning strategies and operational units.
Responsibilities include developing detailed planning schedules, preparing comprehensive capital and operating cost estimates, and conducting thorough evaluations for all projects.
Evaluate and manage the costs associated with mine production equipment while assessing its performance. Stay informed about emerging technologies and determine potential avenues for their integration into operations.
Oversee all operational aspects of mine production, encompassing excavation and haulage, drilling and blasting, as well as pit dewatering activities.
Develop and execute a dual-shift framework (Day and Night) for the Mine Production department.
Responsibilities include providing training and mentorship to all personnel within the Mining Department, specifically Mining Engineers, Mine Captains, shift bosses, pit supervisors, operators, and other relevant workers.
Engage in construction, expansion, or modification initiatives for small to medium-scale Site projects.
As a team leader, you will leverage outstanding communication abilities to deliver technical support and analysis for all Mine Site projects.
Participate in the evaluation of geologic, hydrology, geochemistry, and resource models. Analyze these models to extract critical geotechnical, hydrology, and geometallurgical insights essential for determining optimal mining parameters, including the most efficient mining rate.
Develop tailored geotechnical, soils, and rock testing programs to establish the essential design criteria for open pits and waste dumps.
Oversee all aspects of the Company Surveyor’s responsibilities concerning Mine Production operations at the site.
Qualifications and Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a related industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in data analysis tools and software. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are required to collaborate effectively across departments. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of industry regulations and best practices, as well as the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously with precision and efficiency.
A bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field is required, with a master’s degree considered an advantageous qualification.
