AMO Farm Steerer Hatchery Limited is in search of a meticulous and skilled Laboratory Technician to enhance laboratory functions by conducting sample collection, executing tests, performing analysis, and preparing accurate reports.
The ideal candidate will perform laboratory diagnostics, specifically ELISA and PCR testing, to enhance poultry health management, disease surveillance, quality assurance, and biosecurity initiatives throughout the organization.

Collect, organize, and handle samples to ensure they are properly processed for laboratory examination.
Conduct diagnostic assays employing ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) methodologies to detect and analyze biological samples.
Perform regular microbiological, serological, and molecular testing procedures.
Provide support for poultry disease surveillance initiatives, monitoring activities, and investigations into outbreaks.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of laboratory equipment, including ELISA readers, PCR machines, and other essential instrumentation.
Analyze test outcomes and compile precise documentation of laboratory findings.
Ensure strict compliance with established laboratory quality assurance procedures and biosecurity protocols.
Ensure the accurate and up-to-date maintenance of laboratory records, testing logs, and all related documentation.
Oversee the inventory of laboratory consumables and reagents, ensuring timely replenishment by submitting requests whenever stock levels fall below predetermined thresholds.
Engage in laboratory audits, proficiency testing, and ongoing enhancement projects to ensure operational excellence and compliance with established standards.
Maintain adherence to all safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
We seek a candidate with a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field, preferably holding a degree in a related discipline. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential, along with proficiency in industry-specific software and tools. A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in fields such as Microbiology, Veterinary Laboratory Technology, Animal Science, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or an equivalent discipline is required.
A minimum of four years of hands-on laboratory experience is required, ideally within the poultry, veterinary, livestock, or agricultural sectors.
Proficiency in performing ELISA and PCR assays is a strict requirement for this position.
Acquaintance with poultry diseases and diagnostic methodologies will provide a significant competitive edge.
Skilled in the operation and upkeep of ELISA readers, PCR machines (thermal cyclers), and other essential laboratory instruments.
