Job Summary
The Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer ensures the physical and logical integrity of the fiber network, which links core sites to distribution nodes.
Oversee a range of critical functions, including the management of assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Coordinate cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance productivity, fostering a collaborative work environment. Conduct thorough evaluations of performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic initiatives accordingly. Serve as a primary liaison between stakeholders, providing clear and timely updates on progress and addressing any concerns promptly. Maintain meticulous documentation of all activities and outcomes to support decision-making and compliance with organizational policies.
Assist with the installation and upkeep of fiber optic cabling systems, including their associated distribution infrastructure.
Employ tools such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (Others) to detect and pinpoint fiber breaks or signal degradation accurately.
Provide support in executing fiber splicing operations, preparing sites, and maintaining detailed records of infrastructure for upcoming expansion initiatives.
Monitor environmental factors at remote sites that could impact fiber performance.
Core Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications is required.
Proficient in the operation and application of splicers and ODR testing equipment.
