Job Summary
The Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer ensures the physical and logical integrity of the fiber network infrastructure linking core sites to distribution nodes.
Oversee and execute key duties to ensure efficient operations and adherence to company standards, including managing daily workflows, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with established protocols. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align efforts with organizational objectives, troubleshoot challenges, and implement process improvements were needed. Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries promptly and resolving issues with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes. Monitor performance metrics to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction. Additionally, contribute to strategic planning initiatives by providing data-driven insights and supporting the development of policies that foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Assist in the installation and upkeep of fiber optic cabling systems and related distribution infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Employ tools such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (ODR) to detect and pinpoint fiber breaks or signal degradation with precision.
Provide support in fiber splicing operations, prepare sites, and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure as part of new expansion initiatives.
Monitor environmental variables at off-site locations to assess their potential impact on fiber performance.
Core Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent Higher National Diploma, in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications is required.
Proficiency in operating splicers and ODR equipment is required.
