Job Summary

A reputable Microfinance Bank headquartered in Elite State is currently seeking an experienced, proactive, and technically proficient professional to fill the role of ICT Officer.

The successful candidate will report directly to management and oversee the daily administration, operation, and maintenance of the bank’s IT infrastructure. This role requires ensuring optimal performance and availability of the Core Banking Application (CBA), maintaining robust information security measures, enhancing network connectivity, and supporting electronic banking channels—all in strict adherence to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) IT guidelines.

Oversee and manage a comprehensive range of duties essential to the role, including the strategic planning, oversight, and execution of core functions aligned with organizational objectives. Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive efficiency, ensure compliance with established policies and standards, and foster collaboration across departments. Analyze operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven solutions to enhance productivity and service delivery. Serve as a primary liaison between senior leadership and operational teams to facilitate clear communication, alignment, and accountability. Develop and maintain robust reporting mechanisms to monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and provide actionable insights to support informed decision-making. Mentor and guide team members to cultivate a high-performance culture, promote professional growth, and align individual contributions with broader business goals.

The role involves managing and sustaining the bank’s infrastructure by administering and maintaining critical components such as hardware, servers, operating systems, and software applications on a daily basis. This includes ensuring optimal performance, implementing necessary configurations, and performing routine maintenance to uphold system reliability and security.

Manage Core Banking Application (CBA) operations by delivering first-level technical support, overseeing database administration tasks, executing end-of-day (EOD) and end-of-month (EOM) processing activities, and generating precise data reports to ensure seamless banking operations.

Implementing and maintaining robust network security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus systems, and access controls, is essential to safeguarding the bank’s digital assets against cyber threats.

Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly data backup procedures, and conduct routine assessments of the bank’s Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) to validate operational resilience and uninterrupted business continuity.

Monitor and uphold the operational integrity of electronic banking platforms, agency banking systems, and POS terminal deployments, guaranteeing uninterrupted service delivery for customers.

Assist with gathering essential system technical logs and reports ensuring compliance with CBN/FDIC e-rendition requirements.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a similar role, accompanied by a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with project management methodologies and regulatory compliance standards is preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

A Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is required.

A minimum of two to four years of practical post-qualification experience as an IT/ICT Officer in a financial institution is required, along with direct experience in Microfinance Core Banking Applications.

Relevant IT certifications, including CCNA, Compton Security+, GCSE, or ITIL, are considered advantageous qualifications for candidates in this role.

Technical Competencies: Demonstrated proficiency in SQL database management, network administration encompassing both LAN and WAN environments, server management across Windows and Linux platforms, and adherence to cybersecurity best practices.

Problem-solving skills of the highest caliber, acute diagnostic acumen, an unwavering commitment to integrity, and the capacity to perform effectively under pressure while exercising independent judgment are essential.
