Job Overview
The Health and Safety Officer (Transport) oversees the adherence to all health and safety regulations governing transportation operations at Denote Cement Transport. This position involves designing, executing, and enforcing safety programs specifically designed to address the unique requirements of transportation activities.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve organizational objectives. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards. Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Analyze performance metrics and financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for enhancement, driving data-informed decision-making. Serve as the primary liaison between senior leadership and departmental teams, facilitating transparent communication and alignment with corporate goals. Represent the organization in external engagements, including industry conferences, stakeholder meetings, and regulatory forums. Ensure the efficient allocation of resources, optimizing budgets and personnel to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness.

Deliver comprehensive instruction and support to transportation personnel regarding safety protocols, emergency response measures, and proper equipment utilization.
Conduct thorough risk evaluations and develop effective mitigation strategies to enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation operations.
Conduct thorough examinations of accidents and incidents to pinpoint underlying causes and propose effective corrective measures.
Oversee the documentation of safety records and compile comprehensive reports that evaluate transportation safety performance.
Collaborate with local governing entities and regulatory agencies to ensure adherence to transportation safety protocols.
Serve as the primary point of contact for addressing safety-related matters concerning the transport fleet and its drivers.
Evaluate and enhance the efficacy of current safety initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement and proposing strategic modifications.
Engage in safety meetings by delivering pertinent safety data and key insights to leadership for informed decision-making.
Requirements
A Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or an equivalent discipline is required.
A relevant certification in Occupational Health and Safety, such as BOSH, JOSH, or an equivalent qualification, is required.
A minimum of two years of direct experience in a safety-focused position within the transportation or logistics industry is required.
A degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field—ideally within the sciences or engineering disciplines—is required.
A recognized institution’s Professional Certificate or Diploma in fire, safety, health, or environmental management—such as BOSH, IGC, or NVQ Level 6—will be considered an additional qualification.
Proficiency in fleet safety management practices is essential to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to mitigate operational risks. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of safety protocols, incident reporting procedures, and driver training initiatives. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, such as those outlined by the Department of Transportation, is required. Responsibilities include conducting routine safety audits, analyzing fleet performance data to identify trends, and implementing corrective measures to enhance overall safety performance.
