Job Overview

The Health and Safety Officer (Transport) ensures strict adherence to all health and safety regulations governing transportation operations within Denote Cement Transport. This role involves designing, executing, and enforcing customized safety programs to mitigate risks associated with transport activities.

Develops and executes strategic plans to achieve organizational objectives, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals. Oversees daily operations to maintain efficiency and productivity, while identifying opportunities for process improvements. Leads cross-functional teams to drive project completion, fostering collaboration and accountability among members. Monitors performance metrics to assess outcomes and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensures compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards. Acts as a liaison between senior management and staff to facilitate transparent communication and decision-making.

Craft, establish, and enforce organizational health and safety protocols and operational guidelines specifically for transportation-related functions.

Perform routine examinations and assessments to verify adherence to applicable local and federal safety standards.

Deliver instruction and support to transportation personnel regarding safety protocols, emergency response measures, and proper equipment usage.

Evaluate risks associated with transportation operations and develop and execute corresponding mitigation strategies to ensure safety and efficiency.

Conduct thorough examinations of accidents and incidents to identify underlying causes and propose appropriate corrective measures.

Oversee the maintenance of safety documentation and compile reports detailing transportation safety performance metrics.

Liaise with local authorities and regulatory agencies concerning transportation safety regulations to ensure compliance and adherence to established protocols.

Serve as an intermediary to address and resolve safety-related matters concerning the transportation fleet and its drivers.

Assess the performance of current safety initiatives and propose enhancements to strengthen their efficacy.

Attend safety meetings and deliver key safety data and insights to leadership for informed decision-making.

Requirements

A Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or an equivalent discipline is required.

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety is required, with credentials such as BOSH, JOSH, or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants must possess at least two years of hands-on experience in a safety-focused position within the transportation or logistics industries.

A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field—ideally with a foundation in sciences or engineering—is required.

A recognized qualification such as a Professional Certificate or Diploma in fire, safety, health, or environmental management—including credentials like BOSH, IGC, or NVQ Level 6—is highly beneficial.

Proficiency in fleet safety management practices is essential for this role. Candidates should possess a thorough understanding of safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies specific to fleet operations. Familiarity with industry standards, incident reporting procedures, and driver training initiatives is also required. The ability to implement and monitor safety policies while ensuring adherence to legal and organizational guidelines is a key responsibility.
