Job Summary

The Restaurant Supervisor will manage a team of kitchen staff while ensuring the efficient daily operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment cleanliness, monitoring inventory levels, and rotating food stock to uphold freshness and compliance with standards.

Supervises and directs the work of food preparation, kitchen, pantry, and storeroom staff while efficiently utilizing food surpluses and leftovers.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties central to the role, including but not limited to managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with established protocols, and fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance, while maintaining a strong focus on achieving organizational objectives. Regularly monitor progress, analyze key performance indicators, and provide detailed reports to senior leadership to support informed decision-making. Additionally, oversee team performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide mentorship and guidance to cultivate a high-performing and motivated workforce. Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards while maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees.

Ensuring the kitchen consistently adheres to stringent safety and hygiene standards at all times is a key responsibility of this role.

Responsible for managing the inventory, storage, and distribution processes for food products and supplies.

Assisting in the development of menu plans, allocating ingredients efficiently, and utilizing food surpluses to minimize waste are key responsibilities.

Control food costs by calculating the precise number of portions that can be obtained from each batch prepared.

Oversees culinary staff, evaluates dishes through taste, aroma, and visual inspection to verify adherence to recipe specifications and presentation criteria.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in project management and leadership. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of delivering results under tight deadlines. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, while an advanced degree or professional certification is highly desirable. Experience with industry-specific software and tools is necessary, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders. The position demands adaptability, problem-solving acumen, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

A Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, or an equivalent qualification is required.

Commercial cooking experience, particularly within a restaurant or hotel setting, is essential. While vocational training in catering is beneficial, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Proficiency in management or supervisory roles is highly desirable.

Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high productivity and attention to detail.

Proficient in reading and writing with a strong command of language fundamentals.
