Job Summary

The Managing Director will oversee the cooperative’s strategic direction, fostering membership expansion while ensuring robust management of credit and loan functions. Additionally, the role involves leading and developing staff, reinforcing financial oversight, and upholding profitable, sustainable business practices.

Oversee a range of critical tasks, including the management of daily operations to ensure seamless workflows, coordination with cross-functional teams to align on strategic goals, and the implementation of best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency. Additionally, lead the development and execution of initiatives aimed at improving service quality, monitoring performance metrics to identify areas for optimization, and fostering a collaborative environment that supports innovation and growth. The role also entails maintaining compliance with industry regulations, preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders, and providing guidance to junior team members to facilitate their professional development.

Oversee the daily activities of the cooperative while providing updates to the Board and Executive Committee.

To enhance membership growth, mobilize savings, and drive business development initiatives.

Responsibilities include managing loan marketing initiatives, overseeing property appraisals, handling fund disbursement processes, monitoring loan performance, and ensuring timely loan recovery.

Oversee the accounting and financial reporting processes, manage cash flow, and ensure the integrity of internal controls.

Oversee staff performance, foster effective teamwork, enforce discipline, and ensure high-quality service delivery.

Maintain meticulous documentation, uphold compliance standards, manage risks effectively, and ensure readiness for audits.

Develop and maintain strong connections with local members, community groups, businesses, and institutions in the Cuba area and its neighboring regions.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with at least five years of hands-on experience in software development, system architecture, or a comparable technical discipline. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++, alongside expertise in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, design scalable solutions, and implement best practices in security and performance optimization. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation in a fast-paced environment.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or a related field in commerce or social sciences is required.

A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required, including at least five years in a managerial role within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.

Proven expertise in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loan management, and team leadership is required.

Required qualifications include proficiency in relevant technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and strong problem-solving capabilities, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the field. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of project management, leadership in cross-functional teams, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments. Familiarity with industry-specific tools and methodologies is essential, along with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is typically required, though equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
