Job Summary
MSHE Homes Limited is in search of a meticulous Cost Accountant to deliver precise cost analysis, financial oversight, and contract cost reporting for its diverse portfolio of real estate development and construction initiatives.
Oversee a range of critical duties, including managing project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring adherence to company standards. Responsibilities also encompass analyzing operational data to identify inefficiencies, implementing corrective measures, and maintaining accurate records of all activities. Additionally, the role requires fostering collaboration between departments, resolving conflicts, and providing regular updates to senior management on progress and challenges. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Oversee and document all financial outlays tied to construction and real estate agreements, verifying that expenses adhere strictly to authorized budget allocations.
Review contractor and subcontractor invoices, progress claims, and payment certificates to ensure they align with contract schedules and completed work.
Develop and oversee contract cost schedules, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete estimates for all ongoing development projects.
Analyze contract modifications, change orders, and claims to evaluate their financial implications and provide strategic guidance to the Contract Management team.
Proactively detect and report any cost overruns, irregularities, or financial risks, promptly suggesting corrective measures to mitigate potential issues.
Compile monthly, quarterly, and project-end cost reports to contrast budgeted figures with actual expenditures, identify variances, and assess financial risks.
Perform comprehensive cost evaluations encompassing materials, labor, plant operations, and overhead expenses to facilitate well-informed financial decision-making.
Reconcile contract costs within the accounting system, verifying their precise allocation to designated project cost centers and general ledger accounts.
Provide assistance with the development and oversight of project budgets, perform continuous variance analysis, and propose cost control strategies.
Support the assessment of contractors and suppliers by examining Bills of Quantities, pricing schedules, and rate analyses to confirm cost efficiency and optimal value.
Ensure meticulous documentation and compliance of all contract cost transactions in alignment with the company’s financial policies, applicable accounting standards, and Nigerian regulatory mandates.
Prepare reliable cost data, documentation, and financial records to facilitate both internal and external audit processes as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in software development or a similar technical role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, and familiarity with frameworks like Spring or Django is highly advantageous. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are critical. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions and possess a solid understanding of software development best practices.
A bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or an equivalent field is required.
Professional certification or membership in organizations such as ICAN, ARCA, CIA, or NILS is highly desirable.
Professional Rewriting:
A minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience in cost accounting or project cost control is required, with a preference for candidates from the construction or real estate sectors.
Proven track record in evaluating Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s), assessing contract valuations, and validating contractor payment certifications is required.
Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software, with a solid understanding of Nigerian tax regulations, including Withholding Tax (WHT) and Value Added Tax (VAT), particularly as they apply to construction contracts.
