The Head of Finance & Accounts will lead all accounting functions at JC International, ensuring precise financial reporting, adherence to regulatory standards, and effective strategic financial planning. As a senior leadership role, this position will direct the accounts team to uphold financial integrity, enhance resource utilization, and deliver strategic insights that inform executive decisions and foster business expansion.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to fill this critical position, where the successful candidate will be responsible for leading key initiatives, executing strategic plans, and ensuring operational excellence across assigned departments. The ideal applicant must demonstrate proficiency in project management, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and exhibit exceptional communication abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Responsible for ensuring the precise compilation, verification, and punctual submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with relevant regulatory and accounting standards.

Oversee and reconcile the general ledger to ensure all financial transactions are recorded with precision and accuracy.

Compile financial analysis, projections, and performance evaluations to provide executives with data-driven insights essential for strategic decision-making.

Monitor financial records and performance metrics to detect patterns, discrepancies, and opportunities for enhancement.

Oversee the yearly budget preparation in partnership with departmental leaders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities include monitoring budget execution, analyzing discrepancies, and proposing corrective actions to ensure financial alignment.

Develop and execute strategies aimed at reducing expenditures to enhance overall operational performance.

Ensure all tax returns are filed, and statutory payments are made promptly to relevant authorities, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIES), Pension Fund Administrators, and the National Housing Fund (NHF), among others.

Ensure the establishment and maintenance of robust internal controls to protect company assets and mitigate the risk of fraudulent activities.

Coordinate and facilitate both internal and external audits, ensuring timely and effective resolution of any findings that arise.

Ensure adherence to all applicable financial regulations as well as established company policies.

Oversee cash flow management, banking operations, and financial institution relationships to ensure seamless transactions and financial stability.

Ensure optimal management of working capital to maintain sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations and strategic projects.

Conduct thorough assessments of potential investment prospects and provide strategic guidance to management regarding optimal funding approaches.

Ensure the proficient utilization of accounting software and ERP systems to maintain precise reporting and analytical processes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Higher National Diploma in Accounting or Finance is required for this role.

Professional certification from a recognized body such as ICAN, ARCA, or an equivalent organization is an essential requirement for this position.

A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible accounting experience is required, including at least three years in a senior management capacity.

Demonstrates a strong capability in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, as evidenced by prior achievements.

Exceptional proficiency in leadership, analytical reasoning, and effective communication is required.
