The Project Electrical Engineer acts as the Company’s primary internal authority on electrical matters across all facilities in Nigeria. This position oversees the entire electrical lifecycle of capital projects and facilities management initiatives, spanning initial design conceptualization, construction oversight, quality assurance, and final as-built documentation.

This position demands a high level of technical expertise and spans multiple locations, necessitating an experienced individual capable of autonomously handling intricate projects. The role involves collaborating with contractors and consultants to uphold design standards, while also guaranteeing that all constructed environments comply with the Company’s guidelines, regulatory obligations, and globally recognized best practices in construction and infrastructure.

Electrical Design & Documentation responsibilities involve creating and maintaining detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications to ensure system functionality, compliance, and safety. This role requires proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical, as well as a strong grasp of electrical engineering principles, including circuit design, power distribution, and control systems. Candidates must have experience with industry standards like NEC or IEC and familiarity with PLC programming or SCADA systems. Develop and implement innovative conceptual electrical designs in alignment with project briefs and company specifications.

Create comprehensive electrical drawings comprising plans and specifications throughout every project phase, from initial conceptualization to final construction.

Develop shop drawings and change-control documentation throughout the construction process, ensuring compliance with approved design specifications.

Responsibilities include scrutinizing electrical designs prepared by external consultants to ensure they meet the defined scope, adhere to technical specifications, and comply with relevant industry standards.

Oversee the continual updating and accuracy of all electrical working documents in alignment with current site conditions and authorized modifications.

Ensure comprehensive on-site oversight of all electrical construction activities at every Company facility, overseeing day-to-day operations and adherence to project specifications.

Strict compliance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents must be enforced among contractors.

Perform comprehensive quality assurance and quality control assessments on every electrical component, meticulously detecting defects and deviations from established standards.

Oversee the evaluation and authorization of building materials and components to ensure adherence to established standards.

Compile comprehensive site inspection reports, deficiency lists, and progress summaries for review by Management.

The role involves providing comprehensive assistance to project management initiatives, ensuring efficient execution and adherence to established timelines. Responsibilities include coordinating project activities, maintaining documentation, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and supporting risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, proficiency in project management tools, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Assist in the enhancement and ongoing refinement of electrical standards and procedures for the Facilities department to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety in all operations.

Overseeing and directing operational activities to ensure organizational goals are achieved efficiently and effectively represents the core management function. This involves planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling resources and processes within the organization.

Collaborate with architectural, structural, and mechanical teams to ensure cohesive and unified design deliverables.

Job Requirement

A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent, accredited qualification from a reputable institution is required.

Mandatory registration with the Engineering Council’s regulatory body is required.

Membership in the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) or a comparable professional organization is considered beneficial.

A minimum of a decade of post-qualification professional experience is required, gained within an engineering consultancy or a similar corporate setting.

Experienced professionals with a proven track record in overseeing the entire electrical deliverables’ lifecycle for significant construction and infrastructure initiatives are sought.

Highly valued is prior experience in the oil and gas sector, the energy industry, or within a large corporate multi-site organization.

Demonstrated expertise in overseeing construction activities and fostering effective collaboration with on-site contractors.

Advanced expertise in AutoCAD is required, with familiarity in supplementary design and BIM software applications considered a valuable asset.
