YES Tech Limited, a pioneering Nigerian ed-tech enterprise, is developing a premium, curriculum-compliant video learning platform tailored for secondary school students spanning JSS1 to SS3. The platform’s content aligns meticulously with the WAEC, NECK, BEE, and NERD frameworks, offering Nigerian learners an accessible and interactive avenue to strengthen their exam readiness and subject mastery, regardless of their location.
We are currently at an exhilarating milestone—developing our inaugural group of educators, content evaluators, and academic administrators to prepare the platform for its debut. From the outset, we seek a seasoned arts and humanities educator to oversee quality control and uphold academic standards across our humanities content.
The Role
As the Head of Department for Arts & Humanities, you will serve as the academic authority overseeing all non-scientific content at YES, guiding projects from script approval to final video review and publication.
Subjects you will oversee encompass a diverse range of topics, including core disciplines essential to the role. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of academic content within these areas. You will manage the development, review, and alignment of curriculum materials to meet established educational standards and learning objectives. Additionally, you will provide guidance to faculty and staff to facilitate effective teaching and learning outcomes. Collaboration with stakeholders will be necessary to address any challenges in content delivery or curriculum implementation.
The position requires proficiency in both English Language and Literature-in-English, encompassing strong command over linguistic structures and critical analysis of literary texts. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in grammar, syntax, stylistic devices, and thematic exploration across diverse genres and periods. Responsibilities include evaluating written works, guiding students through literary theory and criticism, and fostering analytical skills in comprehension and expression. Additionally, the role involves curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessing student performance through structured evaluations and constructive feedback.
Government, History, and Civic Education encompass the study of political systems, historical events, and civic responsibilities, fostering an understanding of societal structures, cultural evolution, and the principles of active citizenship. These disciplines equip students with critical thinking skills, enabling them to analyze past and present governance models, evaluate historical narratives, and engage meaningfully in community and democratic processes. A strong foundation in these areas prepares individuals for roles in public service, education, policymaking, or related fields where analytical, ethical, and informed decision-making are essential.
Economics and Commerce encompasses the study and analysis of economic systems, market dynamics, and commercial activities, including topics such as supply and demand, pricing strategies, fiscal policies, consumer behavior, and international trade. This discipline examines how resources are allocated, goods and services are produced and distributed, and financial transactions are conducted. Professionals in this field may engage in research, policy analysis, financial management, or business consulting, requiring strong quantitative skills, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of economic theories. Additionally, familiarity with data analysis tools, statistical methods, and regulatory frameworks is often essential to address complex economic challenges and drive informed decision-making in both public and private sectors.
Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) encompass disciplines dedicated to the scholarly examination of Christian and Islamic traditions, respectively. These fields explore the historical, theological, philosophical, and cultural dimensions of each religion, analyzing foundational texts, doctrinal principles, and societal impacts. Proficiency in these areas typically requires an advanced degree in theology, religious studies, or a related discipline, along with a deep understanding of comparative religion. Professionals in this field may engage in research, teaching, interfaith dialogue, or community engagement to promote religious literacy and mutual understanding.
Proficient in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and other relevant indigenous languages as required.
Geography, encompassing the humanistic dimensions of the discipline, involves the systematic study of spatial patterns, societal interactions, and environmental influences on human behavior and cultural systems. This field examines how populations interact with their surroundings, including urban development, migration dynamics, cultural landscapes, and resource distribution. Researchers and practitioners analyze the relationships between people and places, employing qualitative and quantitative methodologies to interpret societal trends, historical processes, and geopolitical structures. Key areas of focus may include cultural geography, political geography, economic geography, and social geography, all of which contribute to a deeper understanding of human-environment interactions and their implications for sustainable development and policymaking.
