YES Tech Limited, a pioneering Nigerian ed-tech enterprise, is developing an innovative, curriculum-compliant video learning platform tailored for secondary school learners spanning JSS1 to SS3. Aligned with the WAEC, NECK, BEE, and NERD standards, our platform delivers an accessible and interactive educational experience, empowering Nigerian students to effectively prepare for exams and strengthen subject mastery regardless of location.

We are currently in an exhilarating phase: assembling our inaugural group of educators, content evaluators, and academic leaders to introduce the platform. From the outset, we seek an accomplished arts and humanities educator to spearhead quality assurance and uphold academic integrity across our humanities’ curriculum.

The Role

As Head of Department, Arts & Humanities, you will oversee all academic leadership responsibilities for YES’s non-science content, ensuring its development from script approval to final video review and publication.

Subjects within your purview will encompass a diverse range of areas, including but not limited to the following key domains. Your responsibility will involve the management, analysis, and strategic oversight of these subjects to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and standards. Each subject will require your careful attention to detail, adherence to established protocols, and proactive problem-solving to maintain efficiency and effectiveness in all operations.

Fluent proficiency in both written and spoken English, alongside a comprehensive grasp of literary analysis and criticism, is essential. Candidates should hold a degree in English Language or Literature-in-English, demonstrating a deep understanding of linguistic structures, historical contexts, and theoretical frameworks within the discipline. Strong research, analytical, and communication skills are required to evaluate texts, construct compelling arguments, and engage in scholarly discourse. Familiarity with diverse literary traditions, genres, and critical theories is advantageous, as is the ability to teach or mentor students effectively. Proficiency in academic writing and research methodologies is also expected to contribute to curriculum development and scholarly publications.

Government, History, and Civic Education programs equip students with critical knowledge of political systems, historical developments, and civic responsibilities, fostering informed and engaged citizens. These courses explore the principles of governance, the evolution of societies, and the rights and duties of individuals within a democratic framework. Students analyze historical events, examine constitutional frameworks, and assess contemporary civic issues to develop analytical and participatory skills. The curriculum emphasizes the interconnectedness of past and present, encouraging students to consider diverse perspectives and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Proficiency in these areas prepares learners for active citizenship and potential careers in public service, education, law, or policymaking.

Economics and Commerce encompasses a comprehensive study of production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, alongside the principles governing trade, financial transactions, and economic systems. This field examines the allocation of resources, market dynamics, and the impact of policies on economic growth and stability. Individuals in this domain analyze data, forecast trends, and develop strategies to enhance efficiency, profitability, and sustainability in both public and private sectors. Proficiency in quantitative analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving is essential, along with a strong grasp of economic theories and business practices. Responsibilities may include conducting research, interpreting market conditions, advising stakeholders, and contributing to policy formulation or corporate decision-making.

Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) encompass academic disciplines dedicated to the exploration of Christian and Islamic religious traditions, their foundational texts, historical development, theological principles, and contemporary applications. These subjects are designed to foster an understanding of the cultural, ethical, and philosophical dimensions of these faiths, preparing students for roles in education, interfaith dialogue, community leadership, or further scholarly pursuits in theology and comparative religion. Proficiency in analyzing sacred scriptures, interpreting doctrinal teachings, and engaging critically with religious texts and historical contexts is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong academic background in theology, religious studies, or related fields, along with the capacity to facilitate inclusive discussions on faith-based topics while respecting diverse perspectives.

Proficient in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and other relevant indigenous languages, as required.

The position requires expertise in the humanities aspects of geography, encompassing the study of human activities, societal structures, and cultural landscapes. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of spatial relationships, demographic trends, and environmental interactions as they pertain to human civilization. Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial analysis, is essential. The role involves analyzing how human behavior shapes and is shaped by geographic space, as well as evaluating the impacts of policies, migration, and urban development. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills are necessary to convey complex geographic and humanities-based concepts effectively.
