CSI is actively recruiting a Project Director (PD) to lead the Routine Immunization Project. The initiative aims to bolster routine immunization programs by addressing persistent challenges that hinder progress in immunization coverage across supported states, while also tackling obstacles to vaccinating zero-dose and under-immunized children with critical vaccines and healthcare services. Through tailored technical support, the Project enhances routine immunization systems in nine states, employing a collaborative co-creation strategy to advance equitable access and improve coverage, with a targeted focus on identifying and reaching underserved populations.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Director provides strategic and managerial leadership, ensuring high project quality and guiding the team effectively. They foster innovation, coordinate project activities, oversee implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and enforce compliance. Serving as CSI’s official representative, this role maintains strong communication and professional relationships across all key stakeholders—including government counterparts, clients, partners, and other relevant parties.
The Project Director will oversee and direct a team tasked with executing a defined scope of work, delivering hands-on technical assistance to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHC DA), State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (Spicas), national and state-level routine immunization technical working groups, and State Immunization Teams. Responsibilities include client management in collaboration with the NPHC DA and the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare (MOHISM), as well as engagement with additional partners and donors. The Project Director will lead a multidisciplinary team of public health and program management specialists to attain project goals, working in alignment with the immunization practice team and coordinating with CSI/Nigeria leadership. Additionally, this role encompasses the management and technical oversight of the project portfolio, as well as comprehensive risk management for the program. The position reports to the CSI/Nigeria Country Director, with a secondary reporting line to the Immunization Practice Director or their designated representative in the United States.
Oversee the full range of operational duties, ensuring seamless integration of workflows across departments to maintain high standards of efficiency and productivity. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive organizational growth and enhance overall performance. Monitor key performance indicators regularly to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures as needed. Act as a liaison between senior leadership and staff, facilitating clear communication while supporting both strategic objectives and day-to-day operations. Offer strategic leadership and technical guidance for CSI’s routine immunization initiatives and associated funding mechanisms, while also overseeing comprehensive risk management across the entire portfolio.

Facilitate the establishment of mentoring frameworks both internally within the team and externally to foster resilience and long-term viability.
To uphold adherence to CSI and client policies, rules, and regulations, as well as in-country legal and regulatory requirements, maintain clear and transparent communication with the global team, the designated Program Support Manager, and Senior Technical Advisor.
Oversee the project’s successful execution while ensuring the timely preparation of both routine and ad hoc performance reports and technical deliverables.
Maintain precision and submit all quarterly and annual reporting requirements punctually.
Deliver high-quality results while adhering to deadlines, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and remain within the allocated budget.
Develop and implement comprehensive planning, monitoring, management, and control systems to facilitate well-informed decision-making and ensure effective execution of project activities.

Monitor potential new business development opportunities for CSI within the country and maintain consistent communication with the Country Director, Senior Program Manager, and headquarters support teams regarding prospective prospects.
Assist in executing new business strategies and, when necessary, develop individual proposals to support organizational objectives.
Execute additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor on an ongoing basis.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a similar role. An advanced degree in public health, immunization, supply chain management, management, or a related social science discipline—or equivalent professional experience—is required.
A minimum of ten years of hands-on experience in the Expanded Program on Immunization or closely related immunization initiatives is essential.
Proficiency in the fundamental concepts and practical applications of public health is required. Experience with immunization infrastructure, including planning and executing outreach initiatives, vaccine logistics, cold chain maintenance, waste handling and disposal, and fleet management, as well as familiarity with primary health care systems, is essential.
Proficient in evaluating and interpreting routine immunization data to assess trends and performance, with a strong aptitude for tracking program advancements and communicating findings through clear presentations.
Proven experience in delivering complex, multi-component health development initiatives in partnership with national health ministries and global collaborators.
Proven expertise in crafting winning proposals, cultivating client relationships, and driving new business growth initiatives is required.
