Job Summary
The Managing Director will spearhead strategic leadership for the cooperative, fostering membership expansion while overseeing credit and loan operations with precision. Additionally, this role will involve managing and developing staff, reinforcing robust financial controls, and ensuring the organization maintains profitable and sustainable business practices.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, team leadership, and operational management to ensure organizational objectives are consistently met. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and drive sustainable growth through innovative solutions and data-driven decision-making. Monitor performance metrics, identify key trends, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain alignment with company goals. Additionally, foster a culture of accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear communication, guidance, and support to facilitate seamless workflow and project execution.
Oversee the daily activities of the cooperative and provide updates to the Board and Executive Committee.
Drive membership growth, mobilize savings, and expand business development initiatives to enhance organizational reach and financial stability.
Responsibilities include managing the entirety of the loan lifecycle, from initial marketing and appraisal through disbursement, ongoing monitoring, and final recovery processes.
Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting processes, cash management activities, and internal control systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Oversee staff performance, foster effective teamwork, uphold discipline, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to regulatory requirements, manage risks effectively, and ensure readiness for audits.
Foster connections with community members, organizations, groups, and local businesses across Cuba and its neighboring regions.
We seek candidates with a robust academic foundation and relevant professional background. Ideal applicants will hold a degree pertinent to the field, complemented by several years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-specific tools and methodologies is essential, alongside a strong grasp of best practices. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability to dynamic environments are highly valued. Additionally, effective communication and teamwork capabilities are required to collaborate seamlessly with stakeholders.
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or any related commercial/social science discipline is required.
A minimum of seven years of pertinent experience is required, including at least five years in a managerial capacity within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.
Seasoned professional with extensive expertise in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loan management, and team leadership.
Proficient in a range of technical and functional competencies, including but not limited to analytical problem-solving, project management, and effective communication. Demonstrated expertise in industry-standard software and tools, with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies swiftly. Exceptional organizational abilities to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy. Capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive project success and deliver measurable results. Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with stakeholders and foster a productive work environment.
