Kate, Lagos serves as the designated work site for this position, situated in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria.

Our client, a prestigious Afro fusion restolounge situated in Kate, Lagos, is in search of a Head Chef distinguished by formal culinary training and a truly innovative creative approach. We seek individuals committed to excellence in their craft. Applicants without a certification from an accredited culinary institution need not apply.

What you will do:

Craft the entire menu, spanning from initial concept through to final implementation, with a strong foundation in Afro fusion cuisine.

Craft innovative dishes, seasonal specials, and immersive tasting experiences that showcase creativity and cultural richness on an ongoing basis.

Guide, develop, and oversee the kitchen team to ensure uniform excellence in every dish served.

Foster a culture characterized by discipline, accountability, and ongoing enhancement among all kitchen personnel.

Facilitate routine training sessions aimed at enhancing the team’s proficiency in techniques, standards, and new menu offerings.

Oversee kitchen inventory with precision, encompassing stock management, procurement, supplier coordination, and minimizing waste to optimize efficiency.

Create concise and prompt reports that detail kitchen performance, food costs, stock levels, and operational issues for management’s evaluation.

Responsible for managing food cost analysis, overseeing kitchen budget allocation, and ensuring menu profitability in partnership with the restaurant manager.

Ensure meticulous adherence to established protocols concerning food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and portion control.

Maintain strict adherence to all food safety and health regulations consistently across all operations.

On-site presence is required at least five days each week, with a requirement for active, hands-on leadership within the kitchen environment rather than remote supervision.

What we are looking for:

A recognized culinary school must award a formal qualification—this requirement is absolute and cannot be waived.

With a minimum of seven years of professional kitchen experience, including at least three years in a Head Chef or Executive Chef position, you will bring extensive expertise to the role.

Demonstrates extensive proficiency in Afro fusion culinary arts, supported by a well-documented collection of innovative menu creations.

Demonstrates exceptional leadership and team development capabilities, evidenced by a proven history of assembling and nurturing high-performing kitchen teams.

Demonstrates strong training capabilities, having successfully onboarded and enhanced the skills of kitchen personnel across all levels.

Accomplished reporting abilities are essential, enabling precise and reliable tracking of expenses, inventory levels, and kitchen efficiency metrics.

Proven expertise in managing food costs, budgeting for kitchen operations, and overseeing stock control systems.

Demonstrates a sincere enthusiasm for innovation, coupled with the capacity to challenge conventional limits while maintaining fidelity to the core idea.

Individuals must demonstrate a strong commitment to cleanliness, meticulous presentation, and strict personal discipline.

Consistently delivers strong performance in fast-paced, high-pressure service environments.
