Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and meticulous Legal Officer to oversee the company’s legal operations, uphold regulatory adherence, and optimize debt recovery initiatives.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in protecting the company’s legal interests and simultaneously facilitating business operations and revenue preservation.
Oversee a range of critical tasks encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Facilitate cross-departmental coordination to streamline workflows and enhance productivity. Develop and implement policies that drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. Monitor performance metrics to assess progress and identify opportunities for optimization. Serve as a primary liaison between senior management and staff, fostering transparent communication and collaboration. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, supporting their professional development and engagement.
Deliver expert legal counsel on corporate governance, commercial transactions, and operational affairs.
Prepare, examine, and finalize contracts, agreements, and service-level agreements (SLAs) in collaboration with clients and vendors through drafting, revision, and negotiation processes.
Ensure adherence to all relevant legal requirements, regulatory mandates, and established industry standards.
Oversee litigation processes, resolve disputes, and coordinate with external legal counsel as necessary.
Monitor legal risks and provide strategic guidance to management on mitigation strategies to safeguard organizational interests.
Collaborate effectively with Finance and Operations teams to initiate and oversee legal proceedings aimed at debt recovery.
Assist in formulating and implementing internal policies and governance structures.
Provide support for regulatory submissions, licensing processes, and statutory record-keeping tasks.
Offer comprehensive legal assistance to the Human Resources department, encompassing guidance on disciplinary measures and resolution of employment-related conflicts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, with at least 2 years specifically in machine learning or data science roles.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, with a strong preference for Python.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, algorithms, and data structures.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree is required for this position.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid Nigerian Bar License (BL) and maintain current enrollment as an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Requires a minimum of three to five years of experience gained after completing relevant education, ideally within a corporate or security services setting.
Seasoned expertise in debt recovery, credit management, and legal proceedings is required for this position.
Proficiency in Nigerian commercial and labor legislation is essential, encompassing a deep understanding of the relevant legal frameworks governing business operations and employment relationships within the country.
Strong proficiency in drafting documents, negotiating terms, and conveying information clearly is essential.
