The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (MEAN) invites applications for the position of Technical Standards & Compliance (RTSC) Desk Officer, requiring a highly skilled and seasoned professional.

Oversee and execute the critical duties and obligations associated with this position, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Formulate and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Lead and manage cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and driving performance to achieve desired outcomes. The role involves executing technical standards and ensuring their proper integration within the organization. Responsibilities include assessing current systems, identifying gaps, and aligning processes with established technical frameworks. Act as the primary liaison for all technical standards and conformity assessment activities across MEAN, ensuring cohesive alignment and adherence to established protocols.

Manage the MEAN Technical Standards & Compliance Desk to ensure adherence to established technical protocols and regulatory requirements.

Deliver specialized technical advisory services regarding relevant renewable energy standards at the national, regional, and international levels.

Create streamlined toolkits, compliance templates, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that enhance members’ comprehension, implementation, and utilization of approved standards.

Contribute to the operational and technical functions of the MEAN Technical Standards Committee (RTSC).

Publish regular technical bulletins and advisories that consolidate MEAN-endorsed standards alongside evolving regulatory requirements.

We are seeking a meticulous professional to oversee quality assurance and compliance monitoring initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies. This role involves systematically evaluating processes, identifying potential risks, and implementing corrective actions to maintain operational integrity. Design, implement, and oversee a robust compliance tracking database specifically tailored for MEAN members, ensuring systematic documentation and monitoring of adherence to regulatory standards.

Compile and assess post-market and post-installation monitoring data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.

Prepare quarterly and periodic compliance dashboards and in-depth reports for MEAN management and the RTSC, ensuring clarity and accuracy in presentation.

Assess compliance discrepancies and provide data-driven recommendations for corrective measures and specific support interventions tailored to address identified gaps.

We engage and liaise with stakeholders to ensure their interests and concerns are effectively addressed, fostering strong relationships and alignment with organizational objectives. Quarterly technical round-table discussions involving members and pertinent stakeholders will be coordinated.

Serve as the primary technical representative in engagements with critical regulatory bodies—such as the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Nigerian Electrotechnical and Mechanical Services Agency (FEMSA), Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and Nigerian Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NEARER)—to address conformity assessment issues.

Facilitate the coordination and execution of pre-certification clinics for MEAN members.

Engage in national and regional standards development committees as well as technical working groups to contribute expertise and insights.

Capacity development and knowledge management specialists enhance organizational effectiveness by strengthening institutional capabilities and fostering a culture of continuous learning. They design and implement tailored training programs, mentorship initiatives, and skill-building workshops to empower staff and stakeholders. Additionally, they curate and disseminate knowledge resources, manage databases, and facilitate peer-to-peer learning exchanges. Their role involves assessing capacity gaps, measuring impact through metrics and feedback, and aligning strategies with organizational goals. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, donors, and external partners is essential to ensure sustainable development and innovation.

Assist in the administration and maintenance of the MEAN Standards Learning Hub and the primary digital repository housing standards-related resources.

Assist in developing and implementing training programs and mandatory certification initiatives for members.

Document, compile, and share case studies and success stories from member organizations that adhere to compliance standards.

The position involves providing comprehensive administrative assistance alongside strategic support to ensure seamless operations and contribute to organizational goals. Key responsibilities include managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and preparing reports, while also offering strategic insights to enhance decision-making processes. Work collaboratively with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team, as needed, to monitor and document key performance indicators associated with standards implementation.
