A-Star and Baja Africa operates as a leading group of companies committed to the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality stationery products across Nigeria, encompassing a diverse range of items such as pencils, pens, markers, sellotapes, craft tools, and other products tailored to the African market.

We seek a diligent and proactive Female Legal Officer to oversee our legal functions and protect our corporate interests at our Gun State office, in alignment with our strategic goals.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties, including managing daily operations to ensure seamless workflow, leading cross-functional teams to drive project success, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity. Develop and maintain robust policies and procedures to uphold compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align organizational goals with actionable strategies, ensuring sustainable growth and operational excellence. Additionally, monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, identify areas for enhancement, and implement data-driven solutions to optimize overall performance and achieve key business objectives.

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, vendor contracts, and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with precision to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.

Ensure rigorous adherence to all relevant local corporate laws, industry-specific regulations, and statutory obligations to uphold organizational integrity and legal conformity.

Offer strategic legal guidance to ensure seamless business operations, corporate transactions, and governance practices align with regulatory and organizational standards.

Dispute Resolution: Oversee legal disputes with efficiency and collaborate with external legal counsel as needed for litigation or specialized representation.

Maintain precise corporate documentation, facilitate the organization of board meetings, and oversee regulatory filing procedures.

Proactively assess and address potential legal risks within all business units to develop and enforce robust mitigation strategies.

The ideal candidate must fulfill specific educational credentials and possess a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools and applications is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high-quality results within tight deadlines. Knowledge of project management methodologies and adherence to compliance standards are also mandatory. Additionally, the ability to adapt to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment is highly valued.

Holders of a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree with a subsequent qualification to practice law in Nigeria, evidenced by the Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L.), are eligible for consideration.

Minimum of three to five years of active post-call practice experience in corporate law, commercial litigation, or an in-house legal department is required.

Proficient in drafting, analysis, negotiation, and risk assessment.

Individuals interested in this position must either currently reside in Gun State or express readiness to relocate there for employment purposes.
