Job Summary

The Horticulture and Crop Production Instructor will design, organize, and execute lessons for students in strict compliance with the Nigerian National Policy on Education and the guidelines set forth by the AJC.

The instructor will comprehensively and systematically address every topic within the school’s established curriculum while equipping students with essential, practical knowledge pertinent to horticulture and crop production in daily contexts.

Every teacher at AJC serves as an exemplary role model for students, embodying the values and standards the institution upholds.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role; proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++); strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in Agile environments.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable software solutions, leading development teams to deliver high-quality products, mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, and ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards. Additionally, the role requires active participation in sprint planning, estimating tasks, and resolving technical challenges to meet project deadlines.

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, with proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.

* Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

* Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).

* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

* Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

* Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).

A Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or Crop Production—or an equivalent qualification—is mandatory for this role.

A higher degree or qualification in Horticulture or Crop Production would be beneficial.

The possession of a Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certificate is mandatory for this position.

Effective communication and presentation abilities, a strong command of the English language, and a solid grasp of adolescent psychology are essential. Interpersonal skills of a high standard, a collaborative approach, and the capacity to work autonomously with minimal oversight are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is also necessary.
