Position Summary
The Agricultural Recovery Officer will spearhead the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State. This entails sourcing and securing food recovery prospects from diverse agricultural stakeholders, including commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets, while simultaneously managing the redistribution of recovered produce through FBI’s statewide network of beneficiary organizations.
Oversee and execute a range of critical duties essential to the role, including managing daily operations, coordinating team activities, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall performance. Monitor progress through regular evaluations, providing feedback and support to team members as needed. Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders to foster collaboration and address any operational challenges. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices while upholding high standards of quality and accountability.
Foster and sustain collaborative relationships with farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, produce markets, processors, and additional key stakeholders to streamline the process of surplus food recovery.
Oversee the systematic retrieval, processing, and allocation of excess farm products while ensuring strict adherence to organizational protocols and food safety regulations.
Build and sustain partnerships with beneficiary organizations while overseeing the allocation of food resources to optimize delivery to underserved communities.
Perform on-site evaluations, conduct monitoring visits, and gather necessary data to ensure effective program execution and maintain accountability.
Accurately document all food recovery activities, distribution records, beneficiaries served, and partner interactions to ensure comprehensive and precise record-keeping.
Compile regular reports and participate in program evaluation, impact assessment, and stakeholder outreach initiatives to support ongoing learning and engagement efforts.
Guarantee adherence to applicable organizational policies, protective protocols, and donor-established directives to maintain integrity and accountability throughout operations.
Act as the program’s official representative during stakeholder meetings, community interactions, and pertinent professional forums.
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or a comparable role. Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills are essential, as is a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities are also necessary to excel in this position.
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline is required.
A minimum of three years of professional experience is required in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, food systems, supply chain management, post-harvest handling, or community development programs.
Proficiency in collaborating with farmers, agricultural cooperatives, markets, or food security programs is strongly preferred.
Proficient in strategies for minimizing post-harvest losses, implementing food recovery systems, and optimizing agricultural value chains.
Proven expertise in collecting, monitoring, and evaluating data, coupled with a strong ability to produce comprehensive reports.
