Position Summary

The Agricultural Recovery Officer will spearhead the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State, ensuring its effective implementation. This position entails sourcing and securing viable food recovery prospects from commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets, as well as organizing the redistribution of recovered produce through FBI’s established network of beneficiary organizations across the region.

Responsibilities include spearheading strategic initiatives, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Key duties encompass managing cross-functional teams, driving project execution, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. The role demands meticulous attention to detail in financial planning, performance metrics, and stakeholder reporting. Additionally, the position requires active collaboration with senior leadership to refine business strategies and optimize resource allocation. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, adaptability in dynamic environments, and a proven track record in delivering measurable results.

Build and sustain collaborative relationships with farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, produce markets, processors, and relevant stakeholders to enhance surplus food recovery efforts.

Oversee the systematic retrieval, processing, and allocation of excess agricultural products while ensuring full compliance with established organizational protocols and stringent food safety regulations.

Oversee partnerships with beneficiary organizations and oversee the allocation of food supplies to guarantee timely and effective distribution to underserved communities.

Perform on-site evaluations, conduct monitoring visits, and gather data to facilitate program execution and ensure accountability.

Accurately document all food recovery activities, distribution efforts, beneficiary interactions, and partner engagements in detailed records.

Prepare regular reports and support program learning initiatives, impact assessments, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

To maintain adherence to organizational policies, safeguarding protocols, and donor guidelines, rigorous compliance measures must be upheld.

Serve as the program’s ambassador at key stakeholder meetings, community outreach events, and pertinent industry forums to ensure consistent representation and engagement.

A minimum of three years of professional experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, food systems, supply chain management, post-harvest handling, or community development programs is required.

Proficiency in collaborating with farmers, agricultural cooperatives, markets, or food security programs is strongly preferred.

Demonstrates proficiency in mitigating post-harvest losses, implementing food recovery frameworks, and optimizing agricultural value chain operations.

Proven expertise in gathering, tracking, analyzing, and documenting data to ensure accurate and insightful reporting is required.

Seeking candidates who possess a robust set of technical proficiencies and interpersonal abilities. Essential requirements include a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in relevant fields, strong problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively within diverse teams. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is mandatory, along with excellent communication skills to articulate ideas clearly. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on advanced proficiency in Excel and Word.

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of Benue State’s agricultural sector and the dynamics of its local communities.
