Position Summary
The Agricultural Recovery Officer will oversee the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State. This position entails sourcing and securing food recovery prospects from commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets, in addition to managing the redistribution of recovered produce through FBI’s statewide network of beneficiary organizations.
Oversee and execute critical operational duties essential to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and high standards of performance. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall effectiveness within the team or department. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to foster seamless communication, drive project momentum, and achieve collective goals. Monitor progress through established metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven solutions to optimize workflows and outcomes. Provide leadership in delegating tasks, mentoring team members, and cultivating a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous development. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices while maintaining rigorous quality control and risk management protocols. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries, resolving conflicts, and facilitating transparent and timely communication across all levels of the organization.
Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, produce markets, processors, and other key stakeholders to enable the efficient recovery of surplus food.
Oversee the retrieval, processing, and allocation of excess agricultural products while ensuring compliance with established organizational protocols and food safety regulations.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with beneficiary organizations while overseeing the allocation of food resources to optimize delivery to at-risk populations.
Perform on-site evaluations, conduct monitoring visits, and gather essential data to ensure effective program execution and maintain accountability standards.
Maintain precise documentation regarding food recovery volumes, distribution quantities, beneficiaries served, and partner collaboration activities.
Compile regular reports and participate in program learning initiatives, impact assessment efforts, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Ensure strict adherence to all organizational policies, safeguarding protocols, and donor-established guidelines to maintain operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
Serve as the program’s ambassador at stakeholder gatherings, community outreach initiatives, and pertinent industry conferences.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with at least three years of hands-on experience in the industry. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency in relevant software and tools, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven track record of meeting project deadlines. Additionally, candidates should have experience in project management, leadership, and problem-solving under pressure. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is also required.
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline is required.
A minimum of three years of professional experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, food systems, supply chain management, post-harvest handling, or community development programs is required.
Experience in collaboration with agricultural producers, cooperatives, market systems, or food security programs is particularly advantageous.
A solid grasp of strategies to minimize post-harvest losses, implement effective food recovery systems, and optimize agricultural value chains is essential.
Proficiency in gathering, tracking, and analyzing data, as well as evaluating outcomes and documenting results, is essential.
