Position Summary

The Agricultural Recovery Officer will spearhead the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State, ensuring its successful implementation. This position entails sourcing and securing viable food recovery initiatives from commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets. Additionally, the role involves managing the redistribution of recovered produce through FBI’s statewide network of beneficiary organizations.

Oversee and execute core duties encompassing project management, team coordination, and strategic planning to ensure organizational objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to optimize workflows, enhance productivity, and drive continuous improvement across departments. Monitor progress through detailed reporting, data analysis, and performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead cross-functional teams by fostering collaboration, assigning clear roles, and providing mentorship to cultivate talent and maximize team potential. Ensure strict adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards while maintaining high ethical and professional conduct at all times. Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and operational teams to facilitate transparent communication and align business goals with on-the-ground execution.

Foster and sustain strategic alliances with agricultural producers, cooperative organizations, aggregation entities, produce markets, processing facilities, and relevant stakeholders to streamline surplus food recovery initiatives.

Coordinate surplus agricultural produce recovery, ensuring adherence to organizational benchmarks and food safety regulations while overseeing its proper handling and distribution.

Oversee collaborations with beneficiary organizations and facilitate the allocation of food resources to optimize delivery to at-risk populations.

Perform on-site evaluations, conduct follow-up inspections, and gather essential data to ensure effective program execution and maintain accountability standards.

Maintain meticulous documentation of food recovered, distributed, beneficiaries served, and partner collaborations.

Compile regular reports and participate in initiatives focused on program learning, impact assessment, and stakeholder engagement.

Ensure adherence to established organizational policies, security protocols, and donor-established guidelines.

Serve as the program’s ambassador at stakeholder gatherings, community events, and pertinent professional forums, effectively articulating key initiatives and fostering collaborative relationships.

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or business administration, coupled with a minimum of five years of professional experience in a related discipline. Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in data analysis tools are essential. Additionally, experience with project management methodologies and leadership in cross-functional teams is preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is a must, along with the ability to adapt to evolving business needs and technological advancements.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline—such as Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Supply Chain Management, or a closely aligned field—is required.

A minimum of three years of professional experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, food systems, supply chain management, post-harvest handling, or community development programs is required.

Professional experience in collaborations with farmers, agricultural cooperatives, markets, or food security programs is strongly preferred.

Demonstrates proficiency in minimizing post-harvest losses, implementing effective food recovery frameworks, and optimizing agricultural value chain processes.

Proven expertise in gathering, tracking, and analyzing data, along with a strong background in monitoring progress, evaluating outcomes, and preparing comprehensive reports.

Seeking candidates with exceptional analytical abilities, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in project management. Must demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, critical thinking, and strategic planning. Experience with industry-specific software and tools is essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to ensure seamless project execution and stakeholder alignment. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience is mandatory.
