Job Summary

HR Leverage Africa is currently seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager for one of its valued clients. The successful applicant will oversee the canteen as a standalone business entity, ensuring seamless operations, staff management, financial oversight, procurement, reporting, and client satisfaction in a fast-paced food service setting.

Oversee and execute critical duties encompassing strategic planning, operational efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational success. Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and compliance standards while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and mitigate risks. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making. Lead and mentor teams, cultivating a high-performing environment that aligns with company goals and values. Serve as a liaison between departments, facilitating seamless communication and coordination to achieve collective objectives.

Responsible for managing all aspects of daily canteen operations, including food preparation, service delivery, and workflow optimization.

Oversee all team members, including chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers, while coordinating and managing shift schedules to ensure seamless operations.

Oversee the management of food costs, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints while monitoring wastage and optimizing inventory utilization.

Oversee the procurement process and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships to ensure seamless operations and cost-effective sourcing.

Ensure full adherence to HACCP principles, hygiene protocols, and food safety regulations at all times.

Develop and compile comprehensive operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating detailed cost evaluations and performance metrics to provide actionable insights and ensure data-driven decision-making.

Act as the primary intermediary between client representatives and canteen management teams.

Deliver dependable service quality while exceeding customer expectations to drive satisfaction.

Requirements

With a demonstrated history spanning multiple years, you possess substantial expertise in managing canteen, catering, restaurant, or hospitality operations.

Demonstrates extensive expertise in financial planning, sourcing strategies, and supplier relationship oversight.

Demonstrates a strong track record of overseeing extensive teams within fast-paced, high-volume food service environments.

Proficient in food safety protocols and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) guidelines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other reporting tools is considered beneficial.

Candidates must possess prior experience in one or more of the following capacities: Canteen Manager, Restaurant Manager with a high-volume service background, Hospitality Operations Manager, or Catering Manager.
