Job Summary
The Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer ensures the physical and logical integrity of the fiber network linking core sites to distribution nodes.
Responsible for executing a range of duties including project management, team coordination, and client relations. Develops and implements strategic plans to achieve organizational objectives while ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget constraints. Conducts regular performance assessments, provides constructive feedback, and fosters professional growth within the team. Oversees daily operations, resolves conflicts, and maintains high standards of productivity and quality. Collaborates with cross-functional departments to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency. Analyzes data to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend improvements. Ensures compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Manages stakeholder expectations through clear communication and transparency.
Provide assistance with the installation and ongoing maintenance of fiber optic cabling systems and related distribution infrastructure.
Employ tools such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (ODR) to detect and pinpoint fiber breaks or signal degradation accurately.
Provide support in fiber splicing operations, site preparation tasks, and the documentation of infrastructure for upcoming expansion initiatives.
Monitor environmental conditions at distant locations to identify factors that may affect fiber performance.
Core qualifications encompass a robust set of skills and competencies essential for success in this role. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in project management methodologies, including Agile and Scrum frameworks, alongside a strong grasp of software development lifecycle processes. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities are required to diagnose technical challenges and implement effective solutions. Effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to ensure alignment and project delivery. Additionally, candidates should possess experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code. Leadership qualities and the capacity to mentor junior team members will be highly valued, as will a commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging technologies.
A Bachelor’s Degree or a Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications is required.
Proficient in operating splicers and ODR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) equipment.
