Job Summary
HR Leverage Africa is seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager to oversee the operations of its client’s canteen facility. The successful candidate will be tasked with the comprehensive management of the canteen as an independent business unit, overseeing critical functions such as daily operations, workforce coordination, financial planning, expense management, procurement activities, performance reporting, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction within a fast-paced food service setting.
Oversee critical operational duties encompassing strategic planning, team leadership, and performance management to ensure organizational goals are met efficiently. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity, compliance, and quality standards. Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to align initiatives with business objectives and drive cross-functional synergies. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data trends, and present actionable insights to senior management to inform strategic decision-making. Manage budgets, allocate resources, and optimize processes to maximize cost-effectiveness and operational excellence. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring teams, promoting innovation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.
Direct supervision of all canteen activities is required, encompassing food preparation, customer service delivery, and the optimization of operational workflows to ensure efficient daily functioning.
Responsible for overseeing all team members, including chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers, while coordinating and managing shift schedules to ensure optimal staffing coverage and operational efficiency.
Oversee food expenditures, manage budget allocations, track wastage, and regulate inventory utilization to ensure operational efficiency and financial accountability.
Oversee procurement operations and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships to ensure seamless supply chain performance and cost-efficiency.
Adhere rigorously to HACCP protocols, hygiene best practices, and food safety regulations to maintain the highest standards of compliance.
Compile comprehensive operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating detailed cost evaluations and performance metrics.
Act as the primary point of contact between clients and canteen operations, ensuring clear and effective communication while overseeing seamless service delivery. Facilitate collaboration between both parties to address inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with operational standards. Actively engage in managing expectations, providing updates, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout all interactions.
Deliver consistently high-quality service to uphold customer satisfaction standards at all times.
Requirements
With a demonstrated track record spanning several years, you bring extensive experience in overseeing operations within canteens, catering services, restaurants, or hospitality environments.
Proficiency in budget administration, sourcing, and supplier relationship oversight is required, with a demonstrated track record in these domains.
Demonstrated expertise in leading and coordinating extensive teams within fast-paced food service environments characterized by high transaction volumes.
Possesses comprehensive expertise in food safety protocols and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards.
A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools is beneficial.
Applicants should possess demonstrated experience in one or more of the following capacities: Canteen Manager, high-volume Restaurant Manager, Hospitality Operations Manager, or Catering Manager.
