Job Summary

The Hospitalist provides comprehensive care for patients throughout their hospitalization, from initial admission to final discharge. This position emphasizes the delivery of superior, well-coordinated inpatient care, with a strong commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and optimizing the utilization of hospital resources.

The Hospitalist collaborates with diverse healthcare teams to oversee the treatment of both acute and chronic medical conditions in a hospital environment.

This position demands a blend of superior clinical skills, operational effectiveness, and effective teamwork with diverse healthcare professionals to elevate patient safety, satisfaction, and care continuity.

Oversee and execute a broad spectrum of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and fostering a culture of accountability. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, productivity, and compliance across departments. Monitor performance metrics, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement and employee development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, resolve complex challenges, and achieve departmental and company-wide goals. Represent the organization in external engagements, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and industry partners to support business growth and sustainability. Ensure adherence to industry regulations, legal standards, and ethical guidelines while mitigating risks and optimizing resource allocation.

Deliver holistic medical treatment to patients admitted to the facility, ensuring thorough and continuous care throughout their stay.

Perform comprehensive initial evaluations of patients, devise individualized treatment strategies, and oversee the continuity of care throughout the treatment process.

Perform daily ward rounds with precision and meticulously record clinical observations to ensure comprehensive documentation.

Track patient responses to treatment plans and make necessary modifications to ensure optimal care and recovery outcomes.

Oversee the treatment of acute illnesses, manage exacerbations of chronic conditions, and provide comprehensive post-operative medical care.

Address urgent inpatient situations and rapidly evolving clinical conditions without delay, ensuring immediate intervention when required.

Maintain clinical practices grounded in evidence and ensure strict adherence to established protocols.

Manage and supervise the admission processes, which involve handling clerical tasks and maintaining accurate documentation.

Conduct daily ward rounds and guarantee prompt evaluations of all patients.

Coordinate discharge planning initiatives to facilitate smooth and timely transitions of care, ensuring patients’ safety and continuity of treatment beyond the facility.

Draft discharge summaries, generate prescriptions, and develop comprehensive follow-up plans to ensure continuity of patient care.

Work collaboratively with specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to deliver integrated patient care.

Collaborate effectively with other departments to initiate referrals and consultations as needed.

Maintain seamless transitions of care between emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services.

Engage collaboratively in interdisciplinary case evaluations and deliberations to ensure comprehensive assessment and decision-making.

Develop evidence-based protocols and guidelines, and provide training to medical officers and nurses on their implementation in patient care.

Ensure strict adherence to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and evidence-based practices at all times.

Engage actively in quality enhancement projects and systematic clinical assessments to ensure adherence to established standards.

We oversee the tracking and analysis of quality improvement and patient safety metrics, such as medication errors, readmissions, and adverse events.

Maintain adherence to established infection prevention and control protocols and guidelines at all times.

Document clinical incidents and engage in the thorough examination of their underlying causes through root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.

Ensure medical records are consistently precise, comprehensive, and submitted without delay.

Interact professionally with patients and their families to discuss diagnoses, treatment options, and projected outcomes, ensuring clear and compassionate communication throughout all interactions.

Ensure thorough and comprehensible handovers are conducted at the conclusion of each shift to maintain continuity and clarity.

Assist in meeting accreditation standards, such as those set forth by the Joint Commission International.

Maintain transparent communication with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment strategies, and anticipated outcomes to ensure full understanding and informed decision-making.

Uphold empathy, mutual respect, and professionalism consistently in every interaction to foster a positive and supportive environment.

Facilitate seamless patient transitions from initial admission through to final discharge, ensuring continuity of care and operational efficiency.

Drive enhancements in patient satisfaction (CSAT) and experience (NPS) scores through targeted initiatives and continuous feedback analysis.

Oversee the performance and activities of medical officers to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols.

Engage actively in the clinical instruction and mentorship of junior doctors, contributing to their professional development and practical training within the healthcare environment.

Provide guidance and educational support to clinical staff through training initiatives and mentorship programs.

Attend various clinical meetings, case reviews, ecosystem grand rounds, and departmental initiatives to contribute to collaborative discussions and decision-making processes.

Participate actively in ongoing professional development initiatives and ensure familiarity with the most current medical practices and guidelines to maintain expertise.

Ensure compliance with established hospital policies and clinical governance frameworks to uphold high standards of care and operational excellence.

Help streamline bed allocation and enhance patient throughput by managing available resources efficiently.

Engage in scheduled on-call duties and rotating shift assignments.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or business administration, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in a similar role. Proficiency in project management software, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams are essential. Additionally, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, tools, and best practices is highly preferred.

Hold an accredited medical degree, such as an MBBS or equivalent, from a recognized institution.

Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYC) program is a mandatory prerequisite.

With a minimum of five to seven years of hands-on clinical practice, candidates should demonstrate a strong foundation in delivering patient care.

Holding a current and valid medical license is required for this position.

Proven proficiency in clinical assessment and diagnostic evaluation is essential.

Highly proficient in advanced life support techniques is essential.

Proficient in utilizing computers and related software applications is required.

Skilled in conveying ideas clearly and fostering strong professional relationships.
