HR Leverage Africa is seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager for its client, requiring a professional capable of overseeing the canteen as a fully operational business unit. Key responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, staff supervision, budget administration, expense optimization, procurement oversight, performance reporting, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction within a fast-paced food service setting.
Oversee and execute critical operational duties to ensure seamless workflow and adherence to organizational standards. Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with company objectives while monitoring performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to streamline processes, resolve complex issues, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation. Lead high-impact projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints. Mentor and guide teams to enhance productivity and professional growth, cultivating a results-driven environment. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal policies to mitigate risks and uphold operational integrity.
Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the canteen, encompassing food production, service delivery, and workflow optimization.
Oversee a diverse team comprising chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers while coordinating and managing shift schedules to ensure optimal staffing and operational efficiency.
Monitor food expenses, track expenditures, and oversee budget allocation while managing waste reduction strategies and optimizing inventory utilization to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Oversee the procurement process and cultivate strategic supplier partnerships.
Strict adherence to HACCP protocols, hygiene protocols, and food safety regulations must be maintained at all times.
Compile comprehensive operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating detailed cost evaluations and performance metrics to provide actionable insights for decision-making.
Act as the primary point of contact facilitating seamless communication between clients and canteen operations.
Maintain uniform service standards and foster high levels of customer satisfaction throughout all interactions.
Seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in project management, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools is preferred. The ideal applicant should demonstrate a track record of delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.

Experienced professional with a robust background in budgetary planning, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship oversight.

Proficient in adhering to food safety regulations and HACCP standards is essential.
A strong advantage would be demonstrated through expertise in Microsoft Excel or similar reporting tools.
