About the job
If this role appeals to you because you’re eager to grasp the mechanics of mission-driven capital and spearhead the infrastructure that drives it forward, this position is tailor-made for you. This is not a backstage position; you will be at the forefront, leading initiatives rather than delegating or awaiting directives.
Over the course of 18 months, you will achieve the following:
Secured grants from foundations or bilateral donors by tracking opportunities, submitting applications, and finalizing agreements from initial identification through execution.
Developed and sustained a dynamic fundraising pipeline, providing leadership with immediate, real-time insights into the progress of each active campaign.
Developed robust stakeholder engagement frameworks that ensure investors and donors consistently feel informed, appreciated, and assured of Balkan Gone’s responsible management of their capital.
What You Will Own:
Own the entire fundraising process, encompassing debt, equity, and grant capital—spanning from opportunity identification and proposal development to due diligence, negotiation, and final execution.
Craft compelling investment memoranda, comprehensive information packages, and meticulously accurate financial models to effectively convey Balkan Gone’s narrative while ensuring rigorous financial integrity.
Coordinate due diligence processes by establishing and maintaining organized data rooms, handling document requests efficiently, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of required information to investors.
We seek a candidate with a minimum of three years of experience in a related field, preferably holding a degree in a relevant discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal applicant should demonstrate a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and compliance standards is also necessary to ensure adherence to organizational policies. Candidates must exhibit adaptability to evolving industry trends and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Who We’re Looking For:
With 3 to 5 years of professional experience bridging finance, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement, you have actively participated in capital raises or grant processes—not merely in an auxiliary capacity but as a primary contributor driving key outcomes. Your hands-on involvement has equipped you with a keen understanding of what constitutes an effective proposal.
You excel at maintaining organization without rigidity, adeptly overseeing five concurrent processes—such as a grant proposal deadline, an investor reporting cycle, and a DFI due diligence request—without sacrificing quality or oversight. Your written communication is precise and compelling, while your proactive engagement ensures you stay ahead of requirements rather than reacting to them.
You are deeply invested in the impact of the capital you raise, recognizing that directing funds to smallholder farmers in Northern Nigeria—where investments can double their yields, triple their incomes, and ensure their children remain in school—drives your commitment to excellence. This isn’t merely a promotional claim but a core motivation for executing your work with precision and dedication.
We seek candidates who embody the right mindset, demonstrating a proactive attitude, resilience, and a commitment to continuous growth. Ideal applicants will approach challenges with creativity and adaptability, embracing opportunities for innovation and collaboration. Strong problem-solving skills, a results-oriented focus, and the ability to thrive in dynamic environments are essential. Additionally, we value individuals who are self-motivated, open to feedback, and dedicated to delivering high-quality outcomes in alignment with our organizational goals.
You are accountable for results, not merely completing assignments—if a grant report is submitted past the deadline, it is your responsibility to resolve the issue rather than defer it for resolution elsewhere.
Foster meaningful, long-term connections with investors and donors by prioritizing trust, recognizing that genuine relationships are the cornerstone of sustainable capital market success.
Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where the brief is rarely perfect and the work cannot wait.
Observe the mission reflected in the data—let this insight invigorate, rather than dilute, their analytical precision.
