We invite applications from accomplished and seasoned In-House Counsel candidates who will deliver strategic legal leadership and operational support throughout the company. The selected individual will assume a pivotal responsibility in protecting the organization’s legal interests, maintaining regulatory adherence, mitigating legal exposures, and facilitating corporate and commercial dealings. This position demands a forward-thinking legal practitioner equipped with keen business insight, refined negotiation expertise, and the capacity to devise pragmatic legal strategies that advance the company’s goals.

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects to ensure they meet established timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress through regular evaluations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives, resolve conflicts, and facilitate seamless communication among stakeholders. Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and updates for leadership and clients to provide transparency and accountability. Identify opportunities for process improvements, drive efficiency initiatives, and champion continuous improvement within the team.

Craft, evaluate, negotiate, and oversee diverse contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational objectives.

Deliver expert legal counsel on a wide range of corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory, and operational issues.

Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.

Determine, evaluate, and address legal and regulatory risks throughout the organization.

Oversee litigation processes, resolve disputes, administer claims, and coordinate with external legal counsel as required.

Perform comprehensive legal research and deliver prompt assessments on evolving legal and regulatory trends.

Facilitate corporate governance initiatives by overseeing board-related activities, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and managing company secretarial responsibilities.

Analyze business transactions to identify legal implications and recommend strategies for risk mitigation to management.

Craft, evaluate, and enforce policies and procedures to enhance governance structures and ensure robust compliance frameworks.

Offer comprehensive legal assistance for mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, investment ventures, and corporate expansion strategies.

Provide tailored legal education and compliance training initiatives for internal stakeholders to cultivate a culture of adherence and regulatory awareness.

Partner with executive teams to develop legally sound strategies that foster sustainable business expansion.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications: a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, at least three years of hands-on experience in the industry, and proficiency with essential software tools. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. Familiarity with project management methodologies and excellent communication abilities are also required. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving technologies is highly valued.

A minimum of five to ten years of post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law is required, ideally obtained within a respected law firm, financial institution, or multinational corporation.

Demonstrates extensive expertise in Nigerian corporate, commercial, labor, and regulatory legal frameworks.

Extensive expertise in preparing, negotiating, and finalizing contractual agreements, along with preparing and managing legal documentation.

Proven mastery in navigating regulatory compliance frameworks, upholding corporate governance standards, and implementing robust enterprise risk management strategies.

Handled litigation management and coordinated effectively with external legal counsel.

Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in analyzing complex data, resolving intricate challenges, and making well-informed, strategic decisions with precision and confidence.

Proven ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal formats, particularly when interacting with high-level stakeholders.

Maintains a high standard of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.

Proven capability to operate autonomously, prioritize diverse and urgent assignments, and effectively oversee numerous legal matters concurrently.

Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools is essential.
