About the job

To fully grasp the mechanics of mission-driven capital and develop the infrastructure that propels it forward, this position is designed for you. This is not a position for passive support; it demands active leadership without reliance on delegated tasks or external directives.

Within an 18-month period, you will achieve the following:

Tracked, pursued, and successfully obtained grants from foundations or bilateral donors, managing the entire process from opportunity identification to the execution of a signed agreement.

Developed and sustained a dynamic fundraising pipeline, providing leadership with immediate insight into the progress of each active campaign.

Developed and implemented stakeholder engagement frameworks that ensure investors and donors consistently feel informed, appreciated, and assured of Balkan Gone’s responsible management of their capital.

You will be responsible for owning and overseeing the following key areas:

Oversee the entire fundraising process spanning debt, equity, and grant capital—commencing with prospect identification and proposal development, proceeding through due diligence, negotiation, and culminating in deal closure.

Craft compelling investment memoranda, comprehensive information packages, and robust financial models to effectively communicate Balkan Gone’s narrative and ensure the accuracy of its financial projections.

Coordinate due diligence processes by establishing and maintaining organized data rooms, addressing document requests efficiently, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver critical information to investors in a timely manner.

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For:

With a career spanning three to five years at the convergence of finance, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement, you have demonstrated hands-on experience in capital raising and grant management—not merely as a contributor, but as a key decision-maker who drove critical components of the process. Your expertise includes crafting and evaluating high-quality proposals, ensuring they align with strategic objectives and stakeholder expectations.

You possess strong organizational skills paired with the flexibility to adapt, enabling you to oversee five concurrent priorities—a grant proposal deadline, an investor reporting cycle, and a DFI due diligence request—without compromising any task. Your written communication is precise and effective, while your proactive outreach ensures you stay ahead of needs rather than reacting after the fact.

You are deeply committed to the impact of the capital you raise, recognizing that it directly benefits smallholder farmers in Northern Nigeria. Your dedication stems from the transformative outcomes—doubling their crop yields, tripling their incomes, and ensuring their children remain in school—not as a mere slogan, but as a fundamental motivation for excellence in your work.

We seek individuals who embody the right mindset—proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented professionals who thrive in dynamic environments. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning and possess the ability to navigate challenges with resilience and creativity. Resilience under pressure, a collaborative spirit, and a dedication to delivering exceptional results are essential qualities. The ideal candidate will approach every task with a forward-thinking perspective, embracing change as an opportunity for growth and innovation.

You are responsible for delivering results, not merely completing assignments—if a grant report is submitted past the deadline, it is your obligation to resolve the issue rather than defer it for resolution by others.

Cultivate meaningful, long-term connections with investors and donors by prioritizing trust, recognizing that genuine relationships are the cornerstone of sustainable capital market success.

Excel in dynamic, unpredictable settings where the initial brief is often incomplete and tasks demand immediate attention.

Observe the mission through its numerical lens—allowing it to intensify, rather than dilute, their analytical precision.
