This role is pivotal to missionaries’ mission to ‘Invite others to come unto Christ by assisting them in embracing the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receipt of the gift of the Holy Ghost, and steadfast perseverance.’ Serving as an entry-level support contributor, this position aids in training missionaries across diverse settings and subject areas. Instructional responsibilities may encompass language proficiency, gospel doctrine, Preach My Gospel methodology, and missionary skill enhancement. Teachers provide guidance to both junior and senior missionaries prior to their MTC assignment, during their time at the MTC, and after their departure. They adhere to an established curriculum and may be chosen to engage in experimental programs and special initiatives.
The position involves overseeing key operational tasks, ensuring adherence to established protocols, and maintaining high standards of efficiency in all assigned duties. You will be tasked with coordinating cross-functional teams, analyzing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance productivity. Receives guidance from training coordinators or supervisors within the Training department.
Delivers guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to missionaries across various training formats, including individualized coaching sessions, small-group discussions, large-scale workshops, and oversight of Canvas engagement and discussion board activity.
Plans and develops lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum, collaborating with a companion teacher—where applicable—to address the needs of the missionary.
Oversees the strategic planning and financial management of missionaries’ educational initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with accounting standards.
Executes directives and guidance provided by the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, Manager of Training, and Senior Manager of Training.
Attends weekly training sessions and engages in collaborative co-teacher discussions to ensure alignment and continuous professional development.
Provides support to area leadership by collaborating with mission and Missionary Department leadership as needed.
Provides leadership with updates regarding the status and advancement of designated assignments.
With expertise, they mentor missionaries, guiding them through preparation phases and ongoing practice sessions, as well as during actual live lessons, ensuring comprehensive skill development and confidence-building.
Candidates may be required to evaluate the language proficiency of prospective missionaries and teaching applicants in the target language.
May occasionally fulfill additional duties as an Actor, embodying the role of a prospective member exploring The Church of Jesus Christ.
Should the opportunity arise, additional duties may be assigned as a Training Area Assistant, contingent upon the availability of hours.
Duties may also encompass additional temporary assignments at the MTC, such as providing support for the Mission Leadership Seminar.
Qualifications
Required:
Must have served as a missionary and completed a full-term mission.
Fluency in the designated second language is required for roles involving language instruction.
