This role is pivotal in supporting missionaries as they fulfill their purpose to ‘Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.’ Serving as an entry-level support contributor, the position involves training missionaries across diverse settings and subjects, including language proficiency, gospel doctrine, *Preach My Gospel* instruction, and skill development. Responsibilities encompass coaching both junior and senior missionaries before, during, and after their time at the Missionary Training Center (MTC), adhering to established curricula, and potentially engaging in approved pilot programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities

The position reports to a trainer or supervisor within the Training department.

Delivers guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to missionaries across various instructional formats, including individualized coaching sessions, small group discussions, large-scale training workshops, and oversight of Canvas participation and discussion board interactions.

Plans and develops lesson plans in accordance with the approved curriculum, collaborating with a companion teacher as needed to address the needs of the missionary.

Oversees the strategic planning and financial accountability of missionary training initiatives.

Carries out directives and coaching provided by the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, Manager of Training, and Senior Manager of Training.

Participates in weekly training meetings and collaborates during co-teacher meetings.

Collaborates with area leadership to provide support in coordinating with mission and Missionary Department leadership, as necessary.

Provides updates to leadership regarding the status and advancement of designated tasks.

Coaches provide guidance and support to missionaries, assisting them in both preparation phases and during actual practice sessions and live lessons.

Proficiency assessments for missionaries and teacher applicants in the target language may be required as part of the responsibilities.

May occasionally assume supplementary duties as an Actor to portray an individual who is not a member and wishes to explore The Church of Jesus Christ.

As time permits, the incumbent may assume supplementary duties in the capacity of a Training Area Assistant.

May encompass additional temporary responsibilities within the MTC, such as providing support during the Mission Leadership Seminar.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, preferably with a focus on cloud-based applications. Candidates must possess strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, as well as experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code is essential. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also necessary. Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship role is a plus.

Proficiency in a designated second language is a prerequisite for roles focused on language instruction.
