Job Summary

We are in search of a seasoned Nautical Instructor, ideally a retired Master Mariner holding a valid Certificate of Competency (COC), to strengthen our maritime training institute.

The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in classroom instruction and demonstrate proficiency in delivering excellent educational content to students.

Oversee and execute essential duties related to the role, including managing daily operations and driving project milestones to completion. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and foster productive working relationships. Analyze performance metrics to identify trends, optimize workflows, and implement strategic improvements. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency. Serve as a liaison between departments to streamline communication and resolve interdepartmental challenges. Monitor resource allocation to maximize productivity and support team objectives.

Conduct classroom training sessions and administer assessments for maritime students to ensure comprehensive understanding and proficiency.

Develop and maintain course materials in compliance with STCW and regulatory standards.

Offer expert advice and support to students, fostering their academic and personal development through consistent mentorship.

Perform detailed appraisals and reviews of student academic outcomes to gauge comprehension, progress, and proficiency levels.

Partner with fellow instructors to maintain uniform and high standards in training delivery.

Ensure continuous awareness of emerging trends and updates within the industry, as well as any shifts in regulatory frameworks.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role, along with proficiency in industry-standard software tools. The ideal applicant must possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, and prior supervisory, or leadership experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of project management methodologies and exceptional communication abilities are essential for success in this position.

A seasoned former Master Mariner, holding a valid Certificate of Competency (COC), seeks to leverage extensive maritime experience in a professional capacity.

A minimum of five years of instructional experience within a maritime education setting is required.

Experienced in STCW regulations and maritime industry best practices, with a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements and operational standards.

Effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities are essential for this role.

Ability to thrive amid dynamic conditions and quickly accommodate evolving requirements.

Desirable:

Possesses practical expertise in utilizing online learning platforms and digital tools effectively.

Proficiency in Nigerian maritime regulations and operational standards within the industry is essential.
