This role is essential in fulfilling missionaries’ core purpose—to ‘invite others to come unto Christ by assisting them in accepting the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.’ Serving as an entry-level individual contributor, teachers provide foundational support by training missionaries across diverse settings and subject areas. Instruction may encompass language proficiency, gospel doctrine, Preach My Gospel training, and skill development for missionary service. Teachers engage in training both prospective and experienced missionaries before, during, and after their time at the MTC. They adhere to an approved curriculum and may be chosen to contribute to pilot programs and special initiatives.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Develop and implement innovative initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align goals, resolve challenges, and foster a cohesive work environment. Monitor progress through performance metrics, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards. Lead talent development programs to nurture employee growth and retention. Serve as a key liaison with senior management, stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate seamless communication and project alignment.

Receives guidance and oversight from training professionals at the trainer or supervisor level within the Training department.

Delivers guidance, support, and constructive feedback to missionaries across various training formats, including individualized coaching sessions, small group discussions, large-scale workshops, as well as overseeing Canvas engagement and discussion board interactions.

Plans and designs lessons in alignment with the approved curriculum, collaborating with a companion teacher (if applicable) to effectively address the missionary’s requirements.

Oversees the strategic planning and financial accountability processes for missionary teams engaged in educational initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and resource management.

Implements guidance and instruction provided by the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, the Manager of Training, and the Senior Manager of Training.

Participates in weekly training sessions and collaborates with co-teachers during designated meetings to ensure alignment and shared understanding of instructional strategies.

Provides support to local leadership by collaborating with mission and Missionary Department leadership as needed.

Provides leadership with reports detailing the requirements and advancements of delegated tasks.

The position involves training missionaries, guiding them through preparation phases as well as active practice and live lesson delivery.

Candidates may be required to evaluate the language competency of prospective missionaries and teaching candidates in the target language.

As needed, the position may require assuming supplementary duties as an Actor, portraying an individual who is not a member and expressing interest in learning more about The Church of Jesus Christ.

As time permits, the role may encompass supplementary duties as a Training Area Assistant.

Assigned temporary duties at the MTC may also encompass additional responsibilities, such as supporting the Mission Leadership Seminar.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years specializing in full-stack development. Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, and Java is essential, along with expertise in frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is mandatory. Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes) and Agile methodologies is highly desirable. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments are critical.

Required:

Must have completed a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Proficiency in the designated second language is required for roles involving language instruction.

Exceptional coaching, facilitation, and training capabilities are essential, encompassing the ability to inspire, guide, and develop individuals or teams effectively.

A solid grasp of the principles and concepts outlined in Preach My Gospel is required.

Proven ability to build strong interpersonal relationships, effectively prioritize tasks, maintain a high standard of professionalism, and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities.

Proficiency in both verbal and written English is essential, with an additional requirement for fluency in a second language for roles focused on language instruction. For positions teaching American Sign Language (ASL), mastery of non-verbal communication techniques is also necessary.
